I've always stated that the members of the SCEA team are absolutely top notch individuals.....and they've proven it once again.
To me....the guys I've been in contact with for a number of years now have become more than just the people who make the best baseball game around.
Recently, a fellow F.D.N.Y. Fireman, a man I have worked with for nearly 17 years contracted esophogeal cancer. While I realize the nature and environment of firefighting will raise the chances of something like this...Chuck has never smoked(other than buildings)...and after September 11th, the Department has seen and acknowledged an alarming increase in all types of cancer in the first responders who worked at the Trade Center. We all know it's a matter of time for a lot of us.
To the case in point...Chuckie is in for a long and arduous battle....and the members of my firehouse, The Sleepless Knights(Engine 317/Ladder 165) are holding a fundraiser to help Chuckie and his family as the financial burden of not being able to work ....and his wife having to take quite a bit of time off to take care of the family by herself largely.....will be great.
Part of the fundraiser is a blind auction.....where we are soliciting companies to donate items to be auctioned off at the event on October 13th.
Of course I thought a sports related item from The Show team would be great and contacted Ramone.
Without hesitation they have come through with some autographed items.
I just had to say thank you to them(I will properly as well of course...not just here) ...but since they are also part of the O.S. family.....I thought I'd just share with you guys.
I won't post the fundraiser website(I didn't ask permission of O.S....but if a mod sees this an allows it I will)...but you could find it pretty easily if you are interested in donating.
His name is Chuck Jones(like the old Looney Tunes creator) and Chuck Jones fundraiser should find it for you.
