What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
As I am sitting here watching Ryan Mathews of the Chargers get hurt, I started to think. Offline gamers,...........What roster will you use to start your CCM??. Out of the box? Opening day update??. Here's why I ask. With us not being able to alter rosters in the season now, the roster updates will have all the injured players, as usuall, out of the depth chart. Mathews is out 4 to 6 weeks. That would put him back around week 3 of the reg. season. If you use the opening day update, he will be out of the depth chart......and gone for the season!!!! Because we cant change it anymore. And I know it wont effect my franchise team but see what im saying here? Is it just me , or is this something to think about??Tags: None -
Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
Franchise always has the option of starting without using current injuries, unless they took it out this year.
Opps sorry, just re-read your post.
I don't think injuries take them out of the roster, they just substitute the player behind him for him in the starting role.Last edited by Dakota822; 08-10-2012, 12:19 AM. -

This is a very good point. The norm would be that yes, you can turn off injuries and have that player available per the updated roster...but their ratings would be sunk sometimes. If that happens this year, we won't be able to boost their ratings back up as we want them, correct?I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Out of the box rosters for me. I don't think they take the time to evaluate all players effectively when they do roster updates.Last edited by TeamBuilder; 08-10-2012, 11:36 PM.Comment

Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
Since we do still have the option to turn pre-existing injuries on/off.. the CPU will auto adjust their roster and put the previosuly injured guy back to #1 in the depth chart.
However this brings up a good point about injuries in roster updates.
Since we cant edit rosters ourselves pre-existing injuries are kind of "all or nothing" now.
You either keep them or you turn them off, and everyone comes back instantly regardless of how minor or severe their injury was.
I never thought of that, its kind of lame. This also presents a problem since we cant edit rosters.
In the past I would do things like edit a guys position to Punter so the CPU wouldnt use him. In year 2 I would edit them back. I did this to simulate a season long injury, while letting other minor pre existing injuries to be healed. However now its not possible to do this. I did that for Peyton Manning last year. I let all other pre-existing injuries heal, but sidelined him for a year by editing him to be Punter, in year 2 I edited him back to QB and CPU would start to use him again.Comment

I'm 95% sure that the way you prefer playing offline will best be achieved by playing a made up season of your own scheduling in Play Now Mode. It currently seems most likely to be able to do all of the editing and positional changing you like.I'm still playing NCAA 14 and Madden 25...and you know, it's alright.

Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
I always turn pre-existing injuries off.
I usually start up a 'preliminary' career with the OOTB rosters and play that through the preseason (or what's left of it).
Often I'll wait until week 3 or 4 to get more 'settled', accurate rosters too.
Plus this gives me extra time to hone the game and getting around in career mode before starting my career for real.Last edited by Lieutenant Dan; 08-12-2012, 07:37 AM.GO 'HAWKS!

Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
I start my franchises with everybody in the league healthy. I like to see how things compare to real life but I don't try to mirror real life with my franchise.
To add to that its not really fair to start a franchise up with guys injured because they got injured in preseason games in real life when they are going to have to play those preseason games in the game and additional players will get injured in those preseason games. I hope that is not confusing.Comment

i'll wait for the week 1 roster update and set pre-existing injuries to off....i like every team to be full-strength at the start and let things work themselves outSteelers | Seminoles | A's | Rockets | Avalanche | Wildcats, Hoosiers | LiverpoolComment

Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
I usually play with preexisting injuries off. For me my madden franchise is my own franchise. I mean I like to have updated rosters but once my franchise starts it becomes its own. Even on my own team, I don't change my rosters if someone gets hurt in real life during the season.Comment

Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
Great comments guys, Thats why I like this site. But...turning the pre existing injuries off will only affect the players that have been put on IR and are legit out for the season. Im ok with those injuries. It wont change the depth chart because those players are not "injured" in the computers eyes. If Tom Brady gets hurt next week and is out for 6 weeks, the week 1 update will reflect his injury by putting him at least 3rd on the depth chart. So unless the computer will reorder the chart before ccm season starts, Brady wuld stay 3rd all season because the comp just sees him as 3rd string, not injured. So if the computer does not reorder the depth chart, a week one update will have dozens of 3 or 4 or 5 week injuries treated as season ending.Comment

I love the enthusiasm ,but if that is the best we get, then I'll wait til I can buy it used on some sites or not at all, the problem is work arounds to me atleast do not warrant 65 dollars... just my opinion to each his own.Comment

Re: What to do? What to do? A question for Offline Gamers
Im all for CC. Im loving the way its set up now. Taking away editing sucks, but I like that the temptation is gone now. I was spending more time editing than playing the game. I was just bringing up a question that I thought was interesting concerning the roster and how depth chart move "injuries" would effect the game and users.Comment
