RUMOR: Oregon To Get 2 Yr. Bowl Ban, Loss Of Scholarships

Just a rumor I read from another message board so take it for what it's worth...

Oregon will get:

4 years probation

2 year bowl ban

30 scholarships over 3 years

No off campus recruiting for Campbell or Pellum in 2013 And there are questions, regarding DATs eligibility, but that is not resolved, and will be rolled into a separate investigation.

Announcement was supposed to come today, but will likely not be released by the NCAA or UO until later in the week...

FWIW, this was brought up today on the OSU premium board, with one of the insiders saying that he heard from a source in the NCAA that Oregon was going to get hammered.

Also there had better be a show cause for Chip Kelly. Man got caught orchestrating a cover up, he deserves exactly what JT got.

If there is any validity to the story, this may crush Oregon for a while. They don't have the historical prestige like Penn State's...even if the sanctions aren't nearly as bad.

I believe it when it actually happens. I've been hearing mumblings of something coming out of Oregon for a while, but nothing ever has.

Because I hate Oregon more than any other sports team in the world? Good enough for me.

Besides, I think that if they get hit with heavy sanctions, it would at the very least open up some transfers/recruits to be picked off.

I don't get this logic.

If they did wrong they should be punished accordingly, don't get me wrong. But I am not hoping they get hammered. I want to beat them with no excuses.

I can see what you're saying, but it doesn't matter as much to me. If they cheated in order to get where they are, I want them to get punished. I'm not exactly picky about how they go down. Whether we build ourselves up enough to beat them, or they get hammered, either way is good with me.

I just don't get your line of thinking. To be the best you have to beat the best. To me it's not as satisifying beating up on a team that's crippled by this kind of stuff. I want to knock Oregon off the perch the old fashioned way.

What exactly is my line of thinking that you don't get? You seem to be saying the same thing I am: if they cheated, then they should be punished. I just happen to derive more satisfaction out of it than you do. Not really seeing the big deal.
