Do You Guys Play Your Preseason Games?

I don't believe I've ever played a preseason game in any of my offline 'chises in the past. But I'm intrigued by CCM. I think I'm going to actually evaluate my talent in game this year. With the potential of having so many users in the same CC, we'll have a lot of down time between games, mainly because there's just so much to do. Do you guys typically play your preseason games? Or are there a lot of you out there that may start this year like me?

I've played it since the introduction of cut down days, and I like the opportunity to play with my backups.

It's still not perfect, I wish rosters were bigger so that when I have 5 WRs on the field my starters don't come out though, for example... but I enjoy them enough to play them.

I played some last year with cut down days. I wish that players ratings could be affected by how they play in the preseason. (at least a little)

I'm all about the immersion, so I have always faithfully played every preseason game. I liked getting a look at my big free agent signings and my draft picks. I liked trying to extend a contract in camp or wheeling to unload a high-priced vet for draft picks; developing my depth, changing equipment, etc.

It tried my patience on the field, but last year with the undrafted free agents, and cut days, it was really engaging to start off, and gave me incentive to make sure everyone got enough snaps to uncover their ratings... even if I never really found too many gems out of the UDFA's.

That's the one part about last year that I hated. I loved that they would auto-sub the starters by quarter like in real life. In the second preseason game, the starters would play into the second quarter, by the third it was a half, by the fourth, I didn't see many starters play at all. Very nice touch by EA, except for what you just mentioned. By the third quarter, I'd be having a heart attack seeing my #1 WR playing corner and making tackles.

They just need a deeper depth chart for some positions. Instead of having say, 6 slots for WR then just going to OVR. That's why those studs come back in.

If you had 10 slots for WR or CB, then you could back fill with reserve players. Seems like an easy fix to me /shrug

I'd be in favor of offseason roster minimums to fix that. 8-10 WR, several CB, a dozen OL/DL, etc. A lot of players are signed to be warm bodies in camp with the hopes of becoming more - a lot of them don't pan out naturally. Wouldn't mind the same exercise in franchise mode. Perhaps have the option to automate this process to eliminate some of the tedium. Highlight position battles for the lower depth chart spots, etc.

Guessing this would require a big boost to the size of the free agent pool though, and better cap management by all. A lot of infrastructure questions/issues to address for it to happen.

Not usually, but with XP earned in preseason games, I will this year.

thats what i do as well i hate losing big name players or rookies that are suppose have big role on your team. i know injuries happen in real life but sucks when u wanna play with rookie and then lose them for yr in pre season.

I will be playing preseason games this year in order to get the XP. I didn't purchase Madden 12 but I would have on that due to undrafted rookies, and cut day though.
