1st Team:

PG: Jerry West- Long arms and high shoulders gave him the reach of a 6'5" man. Great speed.
SG: Michael Jordan- Great speed and a master at dodging screens.
SF: Scottie Pippen- An ace team defender.
PF: Dave DeBusschere- Incredible strength and toughness. Best man to man defender of all time.
C: Bill Russell- A one man zone in the team game and a sinewy strong individual defender.

2nd Team

PG: Dennis Johnson- Excellent at forcing the opposing point man to turn his back on the offense.
SG: Michael Cooper- Quickness and length.
SF: T.R. Dunn- Smart, long, and tough.
PF: Dennis Rodman- Outstanding athlete and he practiced infuriating moves.
C: Nate Thurmond- Length, strength, and intensity. A shade behind Russell in team and individual 'D'.

3rd Team

PG: Ron Harper- Length and a genius level IQ.
SG: Sidney Moncrief- His long arms and active hands discombobulated one and all.
SF: Ron Artest- Outstanding strength and (in his prime) quickness.
PF: Gus Johnson- Brutal competitor. Outstanding strength and speed.
C: Wilt Chamberlain- Focused his efforts on defense in his later years. When he was engaged though, he was a monster.

Glad to see somebody else showing major love to DeBusschere!

I forgot about Gus Johnson, don't know if I would have moved any of my guys off my list for him but he definitely deserves props..

I actually think Pippen is a slightly overrated defender.. As far as being a one on one defender.. Team defense wise he is simply amazing..

I highly doubt anyone will be leaving him off their list

Thats my feeling as well. Rugged forwards could overpower Pippen. He almost always made the right decision in the team game though.

DeBusschere was the greatest individual defender who ever breathed. I've said it many times before and I'll continue to say it.

Frazier was very good. He was hungry for steals though and DeBusschere and Reed covered for him when he came up empty. Ron Harper played a contain type game with minimal gambling, which is my preference.

^ I think I'm just biased somewhat when it comes to Frazier.. I always want to bump him up in any all time list I can find lol wether it be PGs or all time, etc.. He's just one of my all time favorites, smooth on and off the court
