Downloadable Title on XBL or PSN?

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere already, I didn't see it. I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is any chance that the complete retail version of NHL will be a downloadable from the marketplace like Madden or NCAA.

as far as I know NCAA 13 isn't PSN or XBLM to download and I haven't heard anything about Madden 13 being available on release day either.

I know EA usually adds their games to those services down the road but if you want to get the game you will have to buy the retail copy or wait for a few months.

I know that NHL12 is available now on XBL. Dunno about PSN but I could imagine that there's a NHL12 version too. But you probably need to wait a long time to get it digital.
So if you want to play the new NHl13 like now, you'd better get it as a retail version. If I remember correctly NHl12 was put up to download on XBL just a few months ago.

any idea why it takes that long? i get that it isnt only xbl on release day but why months later and not a week or so?

Well NCCA and Madden have been available for release day download on PSN. In fact for pre order. NHL was late to the party, but I have a feeling it will be available upon release as well.

I saw in the PS Store that you could pre-order Madden 13 there, so I'm assuming it's going to be available on PSN whenever it updates today. Not sure if NHL would be the same, could just be something they're testing with larger games..

Correct, Madden 13 was available as of launch day on PSN. I too hope NHL 13 is available there as well, on release day.

The PS Blog lists what's coming in the weekly store update here, so we'll find out next Sunday, if not before.

Just a heads up for those of you wondering: you are now able to pre-order NHL 13 on the Playstation Store for $59.99. If you pre-order you get a theme and the ability to download the game at midnight on launch day.
