How Can We As A Community Get The Little Things Addressed Going Forward?

This should be a wide open thread and I really want to hear from EAGCs, CE attendees and everyone else, in a respectful manner to one another. The games is what it is at this point, regardless of individual opinions of "it", so we should all work towards making it better. I understand that there is a EAGC website and vote but I am talking about attention to detail and minor nuances that need to not be overlooked another year. We all know the major issues and have our personal wishlists but lets try not to go there. I am hoping we can expose a litany of small details and how they can be relayed to the devs to be a part of M14 or sooner through patches.

For example, I have mentioned several times about the playcall screen in Madden being like that in NCAA so the defense can see the actual personnel/numbers taking the field for the offense. (here) Also, for offensive and defensive personnel to actually come on/off the field in real time. What prompted me to start this thread though was I just finished playing the M13 demo and I realized the depth chart needs to be expanded. I know there are already issues being reported with preseason games in CCM for M13 so the depth chart needs to include a specific screen for special teams, like kick return, punt return, etc. If that is too drastic a change to implement in one cycle, then the pregame substitutions need to be brought back from last-gen Madden.

I did not prefer a lot of things in last-gen Madden but one thing that was definitely well done was the pregame substitutions and the mass substitution "strings". M14 NEEDS to have mass substitutions (1st, 2nd, 3rd string) so starters are not appearing in preseason games and both Users and the AI have a way to sub in an entire unit in a blowout. Also, the ability to change ALL formation packages PREGAME NEEDS to be added back so no starters or players period are unintentionally running around on special teams.

This are the type of things that I want to focus on in this thread and find out how the community can come together to prevent these little things that Madden got right last gen from continuing to be overlooked this gen.

I stumbled on this video and it illustrates some of the little things that Madden once got right but are now repeatedly overlooked, even this year. For example, notice the "newspaper" from M05 franchise mode, which Twitter and "Top Stories" in CCM are the newer version of. However, the newspaper in M05 was able to be categorized into each teams specific news regardless of the team you were controlling, to simulate anyone just reading the local paper for that area. Yet the system in CCM, doesn't allow Users to read the individual Twitter and top stories for the other teams. Again, a little thing which got completely overlooked and I hope we can prevent this stuff as a community, going forward.

They nee Real time cut scene and they need trashing the 4 same cutscene after every play.

Different camera angles unless your next game is using the same camera angle as backbreaker to express football

Better ball trajectory and angles.

Hopefully someone that understands programming could shed some light on whether using real time is a major undertaking or a little thing. If 2K did it back in 2005, then there is no reason MADDEN shouldn't have it right by now. I am still baffled by how the camera pans to NOTHING after a play or "cut scene". This is one of THE most annoying things in this game.

@Stampede_94, I feel your frustration BUT I don't want this to be a "venting" thread. I am trying to figure out what we can do to get these little things addressed.

For example, with player appearance and portraits, can we network with EAGCs to ensure that these things are as accurate as possible next year? With Gameface, is there anyway the community can save and upload accurate scans for devs to use in M14?

These are the kind of things we want to try to remedy if possible by bringing the community together.

I still don't understand why we don't have customization for end zone banners to give the game a little more realism. I went to Ralph Wilson Stadium the other day, and there were player banners throughout the stadium, in Madden all I get is "Knobby Tires".

Expanded depth chart, defenders entering and leaving the field in real time, mass subs all would be exceptional additions and seem to be easy additions.

To piggy back, real time offensive audibles would go a long way to making the pace of the game much more realistic. And proper fatigue for no huddle offenses. These would each make the pace of the game mirror real life much more.

Cut scenes have always been an issue for sports games it seems. The guys at 2k claim to have made strides in that area this year. Real time celebrations and reactions to good and bad plays, real time sack and first down mini-celebrations, and accurate walk off reactions to kneel downs at the end of the game would all aid in the immersion so much and seem like they wold be easy to implement.

How much can the GCs really do? Im sure they werent the ones who told EA to take things out.

EA will do what they want to do and the only thing i can see us doing to be heard is not buying the came. I dont see enough people doing that though.

There needs to be some easy to access references for EAGCs, CE attendees and the devs themselves, to make a checklist of for "polishing" Madden 14. I honestly think somethings just get overlooked during the cycle, due to whatever process goes on at Tiburon. I am hoping the community can help provide a reminder for getting the detail as right as possible, that will potentially make the devs job easier and the final game better.

I feel you guys on "not buying the game" but as NFL fans, we need a fix, and there is no other game to give that to us right now. If we weren't die hard NFL fans we wouldn't be on here right now, and that's why EA knows they have us.

I'd be lying to all of you if I said I didn't have a pile of games ready to trade in at midnight...
