Permian Poised for State Title
The Permian Panthers are this year's odds-on favorite to win the state championship. After a slow start and a number of injuries Junior Drew Andrews took over at QB and led the team to within a game of the championship last year. With in unprecedented 20 returning starters and a senior class of 26 this is truly Permian's year. Andrews leads a team with 5 SPARQ top 100 prospects. "We've got a lot of weapons. Based on what we did the second half of last season with all those injuries I can see why they would pick us to win it all. Anything less than that is a huge letdown." explained Andrews. When asked about Andrews Permian Coach Dave Nichols said the following: "We always knew he could play the position at a high level, we just didn't think he was ready. We had some things happen last year that forced us to get him in there and he played well above and beyond our expectations. As far as all the attention and high rankings he has gotten, he deserves them. He's the real deal." We asked Nichols for some insight as to which Colleges were on Andrews radar, "To him there's only one school. He fully intends to go to Texas." Permian begins their preseason workouts in just over a week.Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:45 PM.---Comment

Re: Drew Andrews - Road to Glory
Early July, Prior to SR Year, One Week Before Preseason
"You have to be f-cking kidding me!"
"Don't speak to your mother like that!"
As I stormed out of the house it took everything I had not to put my fist through the wall. I slammed the door of my truck and headed the only place I could think of.
I threw open the door to the weight room. Mike Porter and Tim James were there. I went right to the squat rack.
"Spot me."
Mike was a longtime friend and he could tell I was pissed. He knew better than to ask.
I finished a set of squats and grabbed a bottle of water.
"F-ck!" I yelled as I threw the bottle of water at the "MOJO" on the wall.
"What's up man?" Tim asked nervously.
"F-cking a--hole Jeff is making us move."
"What!?" Mike was obviously shocked.
"What the hell for?" Asked Tim.
"His job man."
"That blows."
"You're telling me. We were gonna win state. How the f-ck am I gonna go to Texas now?"
"Where to?"
"F-cking Maine dude. Of all the sh-tty places."Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:45 PM.---Comment

Permian Loses Star QB
The Permian Panthers suffered a huge blow to their State Championship hopes yesterday. The hit didn't take place on the game field or even at practice. The team announced that Senior QB Drew Andrews would not be attending Permian for his Senior season as the family will be relocating to Maine for work. Andrews had a great season at the helm for the Panthers last year and led them to within a game of the State Championship. Andrews will likely have difficulty getting the continued attention of big schools as he will be far from the limelight in Presque Isle, Maine. The closest FBS schools are well over 9 hours away in Massachusetts. Permian coach Dave Nichols had the following to say: "It's certainly a huge blow to us. When you come into a season expecting to have one of the best QBs in the state then find out that's not the case you basically go back to square one. We certainly wish him and his family the best." Andrews will join the Presque Isle High Wildcats. A team that has regularly finished in the basement of their conference and even failed to field a team due to lack of players as recently as six seasons ago. The Wildcats have finished the past two seasons at 0-7. Permian will need to find their new leader quickly as opening night is just three weeks away.Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:45 PM.---Comment

Star Comes to Presque Isle High
Drew Andrews may not be a name you're familiar with but you likely will be soon. Andrews recently moved to the area and will join the Wildcats football team as the starting QB. Andrews led Permian High, of Odessa Texas, to the regional championship before losing narrowly. Andrews was regarded as one of the top college prospects in the nation before his relocation. When asked how his relocation would alter his appeal to big schools an anonymous FBS scout said: "Obviously he isn't going out there and competing against top talent anymore. That's something that could really hurt his stock. When you got him out there against a bunch of kids that have basically no shot at playing college ball that makes you really wonder what he can do against top talent. We all saw some flashes last year but no one was really looking at him 'til half-three quarters of the way through the season. We need to see it for a whole year." Andrews was unavailable for comment but his step father replied to an email and indicated that Drew was "going to play hard" and that he still hoped "to be a longhorn next season" meaning that Andrews is hoping to be recruited by the University of Texas. Andrews will have to play at an extremely high level to remain on Texas' radar. Presque Isle opens their season next week on the road at Old Town.Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:46 PM.---Comment

Caribou Cats
Head Coach: Jack DeLeo
Last Year: 7-0, Northern Conference Champions

Scouting Report: Very strong on both sides of the ball.
Prediction: Another year on top for DeLeo and the Cats. 18 returning starters means little drop-off from last season.
Bangor Bulls
Head Coach: Miles Douglas
Last Year: 5-2
Returning Starters: 14
Scouting Report: Very strong defense, strong offense
Prediction: Not quite up to the level of Caribou but closing the gap. Solid returning core.
Rockport Vandals
Head Coach: Jim Jones
Last Year: 6-1, Northern Conference Runner Up
Returning Starters: 10
Scouting Report:Strong defense, average offense
Prediction: Drop off due to graduating 12 starters but still a top-tier team.
Houlton Hawks
Head Coach: Bobby Robertson
Last Year: 3-4
Returning Starters: 20
Scouting Report: Average offense, soft defense
Prediction: Breaking .500 but still can't hang with the bigger schools.
Loring Lions
Head Coach: Dick Fitzwell

Presque Isle Wildcats
Head Coach: Dwight Carter

Returning Starters: 7
Scouting Report: Below average offense, average defense
Prediction: Newcomer Drew Andrews is a talent we haven't seen up here, he can't do it himself though.
Ellsworth Eagles
Head Coach: Jim Fishman
Last Year: 2-5
Returning Starters: 13
Scouting Report: Below average offense and defense
Prediction: Low numbers will mean another tough season in Ellsworth. First year coach Fishman has his hands full.
Old Town Owls
Head Coach: Robert Barker
Last Year: 1-6
Returning Starters: 7
Scouting Report: Below average offense and defense
Prediction: With Andrews at Presque Isle Old Town loses their cushion and will fall to the cellar. School considered dropping the program.Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:46 PM.---Comment

Re: Drew Andrews - Road to Glory
First Practice, Two Weeks before Game One
"Andrews!"
"Yeah Coach?"
"You didn't put a defensive position."
"What?"
"On your form, you only put quarterback. What about defense?"
"Defense?"
"Yeah son, defense."
"I haven't played defense since Pop Warner Coach."
"Well, we play both ways up here Andrews. Head over with Coach Miller and the linebackers."Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:47 PM.---Comment

Re: Drew Andrews - Road to Glory
Later That Night, on Skype with Mike Porter
"Dude, you won't believe this sh-t."
"What?"
"I gotta play defense too."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, there's only like 37 players on the team so almost everyone plays both ways."
"When's the last time you made a tackle?"
"Uh like 5th grade man, Pop Warner."
"Damn. Where they got you like corner."
"Middle linebacker man. I'm like the biggest non lineman on the team."
"Oh sh-t, ha ha."
"Thanks. Hey how was the game?"
"We won, 20-16. Too close. Fortson shouldn't be our QB."
"Damn, that was close. Hey man I gotta run. I'll talk to you tomorrow."
"Cool man, later."Last edited by djp73; 12-16-2012, 01:47 PM.---Comment
