I am a Franchise(Sim) type of person. Which should I do?

This isn't a bashing thread by any means. It is what it is. The gameplay is amazing. I enjoy playing actual games. But like the title says, I am a huge franchise/dynasty type player. I still play games here and there but I mostly try to build teams and either sim or coach games. The CCM is it's positives but it does not fit my style. Also, I would probably bite the bullet and deal with it if it didnt freeze on my all the time.

Luckily, I got this game for practically free. I had a couple Best Buy giftcards since xmas that I forgot about.

So with that being said...I dont think I could return it to best buy and get my money back but I am thinking about trading it into gamestop and putting it towards a used ncaa 13 or madden 12 (I didnt get last years madden)

How is franchise mode in madden 12? I know the gameplay wont be as good but I have no problem downgrading in that department.

I have ncaa 12. How is that compared to 13? Would it be a waste to get 13 if i already have 12?

madden 13 in the best madden and better than any ncaa on this generation.
just stick with it go into ccm as a coach and build your team. follow the twitter boards and and get a great draft class. also become a better gamer and not sim so you can enjoy the new improvements

and with the freezing. the game has not skipped on me once and i want to say i played already 100 hours already... not too sure how long i actually but its been a lot.

the main point here is ccm is the great give it a chance

        In terms of gameplay..yes.
        Overall top to bottom...maybe.
        Franchise/career mode...no, not even close.

mine has froze in ccm mode over a dozen times. most of the time its when using the r2/l2 menu like changing positions and teams. it has froze on me a couple times when starting a gane.

but like i said. im not bashing the game. it was practically free. but it just isnt the same game. it doesnt fit my style (franchise/gm mode)

Ive been playing ccm mode for 4 days practically non stop. I will keep playing it but i might trade it in for madden 12 or just store credit.

Re: I am a Franchise(Sim) type of person. Which should I do?

I would say as a whole package, Madden 12 has the better franchise mode. Madden 13 -looks- prettier, with shinier things like twitter feeds, game face, legacy scores, etc, and while fun, offer no actual substance.

Madden 12 has a far superior progression system, with players having their own potential. It is flawed, and potential is a known rating, so you know exactly what ratings players are gonna end up at, but some players boom, some bust, much more realistic than the XP progression system which I hated in theory and hate in execution.

Madden 12 allows you to use custom playbooks in franchise, which is a far more in depth means of implementing schemes than the way CCM does it.

Madden 12 also has full player editing, allowing you to swap positions (I've already seen examples of Madden 13 getting positions wrong... Anthony Dixon isn't a fullback, Donny), as well as jersey #'s (the new CCM roster has 2 pairs of players on the 49ers roster with identical #'s... 2 32's and 2 23's...).

For a sim player, Madden 12 has the far superior franchise mode, and to me its not even close. CCM is fun, but a huuuuge step backwards in my opinion.

On field, Madden 13 is better, and far better than what I experienced in the demo. I've noticed some ai cheat logic, but not nearly as bad or as blatant as years past. AI seems better this go round.

Thanks for this. yah I agree that this years gameplay is really good. Best ive seen in any ncaa/madden. Franchise mode would be epic if they kept last years version. I havent played madden 12 yet, 2011 was the last version I bought but I am really considering trading in my 2013 and getting a pre-owned 2012 for like $20.

Since I opened my 2013, I cant return it to best buy for full refund/store credit, can I ?

wait for the next patch to see how much they fix.

if it's still not good for you, then just go with Madden 12 with updated 2013 rosters from the madden rosters forum here.

Re: I am a Franchise(Sim) type of person. Which should I do?

I am a huge franchise person as well. What I can say that I can't say about the others is that I'm having fun playing with any team trying to rebuild them.

I think the trades are good, offseason is much better than any other Madden.

Not to even mention the immersion with twitter feeds and front pages news.

Also a much better trade block and easier to trade up/down during the draft.

Also you don't have to worry about potential you can progress your players from nothing to something.

This is the best Madden. Hands down. Without editing and fantasy draft , it's still an amazing game with a lot of options.

The jersey numbers and positions bother everyone, sure... but once you step into CCM, its a "new universe" and you've really gotta treat it like it, at least for now.

Yes, there are some letdowns with this type of stuff, but let me tell you, once you are past the preseason, and those draft hype stories start, and you have full control over progressing yourself and your players... you can keep the owner mode, this has far more to me in terms of building a team and developing players...

Plus, it is a series reboot -- if this is the floor, then where do you think the ceiling is for the future? If you're a true "franchise" person, I can't see how you can't look past some things and see that we finally are getting a dynamic franchise mode with things we've all asked for -- for years. I can take someone winding up with Barry Sanders number on my Lions in exchange for what we've received.

Especially when I know that most of our problems CAN be patched.

Get some realistic sim style sliders from the slider category.

And, create a bunch of different CCM's coaching a different team in each and try to build each team up and sim your games. See if you can make a Super Bowl winner out of any or all of them.

Pretty much this. The old franchise was stale, stagnant, no different from stuff we were doing in the PS2 days... I played it because it was the GM option that was there... not because it was some great mode in it's own right... Because it never was and never was going to be.

CCM has a TON of warts, no doubt about it... But as stated in the quote... it's the new floor.. and the potential is sky high. I am already enjoying the scouting immeasurably more than anything legacy franchise ever had... The days of seeing a "C" potential after signing a draft pick and realizing he's ALWAYS going to be a special teams guy are done... The trade logic is a big improvement... It's a pretty good foundation and I'm done looking back.

Like I said, they have some warts to take care of... some things just aren't working quite right... but If they bring back full offline CCM editing for next year, The mode can truly return to the open sandbox that M12 introduced... and I'll be 100% satisfied. As it stands now, even with the warts, I'm enjoying the mode.

NCAA 13 is by far better than Madden 13! Madden is filled with bugs and has removed the old franchise mode and replaced it with coach CCM you cant edit rosters, fantasy drafts and also you can't put custom rosters or created teams to play in it. You have to use ea rosters only. They have no create a team in madden 13

You have to sim each game one by one. In Madden 12 you can sim seasons. Get Madden 12 (and NCAA Football 11 if you like college football) with updated rosters and enjoy football season with quality at less than 30 bucks.
