    Proper Number of Snaps

Ok, so Madden has been around for 20+ years now. Why can't they simulate games with the same game times as me.

I don't have an hour and a half to play one game. I like playing 7 minute quarters but I'm sick of always being first in Defense and last in Offence, only because the computer is always playing 15 minute quarters.

    accelerated clock is your friend.

15 min qtrs, 12 second minimum clock

    or

12 min qtrs, 20 second minimum clock

are both settings that provide, in my experience, a realistic number of snaps, as well as feeling like the real thing as far as flow and time of possession

I'm the same as OP. 15 minute quarters with 12 sec clock still takes over an hour to play. I don't have the time or patience for that.

I really don't get that arguement. That you don't have the time or patience to play that long of a game. It's football, they play once a week, so if you can take two hours out of a week (I work two jobs and still manage to find that much time) you're still getting a season in in half the time the real thing takes. It just makes me SMH when people claim to be "sim" gamers but yet shorten the length of the game. The #1 rule of football is that the game lasts 60 minutes and if you can't do that then you're not a "sim" gamer by any means IMO.

I like to play a long game so I go 13/min qtrs w/ accel clock, but I get your point. NBA 2Ks have a setting for sim qtr length and reg qtr length. If 2K can do it, EA can too.

Very Slow Game Speed. It seems to be the most realistic speed and was proven in a NCAA thread with a guy testing how long it took a player to run 40 yards and compared it to real life 40 times. Very Slow was almost spot on.

8 minute quarters with no cutoff.
12 minute quarters with 20-25 second cutoff.
15 minute quarters with 15 second cutoff.

These all get you 60-65 plays per team depending on how even the TOP is. With the saints, I usually get 34-40 pass attempts a game and 20-24 rush attempts.

As for simulating, I don't know why it hasn't been solved. I havent started a CCM yet because CPU teams score 40+ points a game with 600-800 team yards. Once it gets patched in a week or two [it better], I will probably stick with 8min quarters and play 15 during the playoffs and Super Bowl just to get that real feel.

The NFL averages 120 offensive plays per game.

Going a little over or under is fine. Some teams pass more, and incomplete passes lead to clock stoppage. Also, some teams run the clock more than others. For example, the Saints ran the clock as much as they could against Peyton Mannng's Colts in the Super Bowl a few years ago, limiting the Colts offense to 8 possessions in each half. Not ever game is as extreme as that either.

Using gameflow and 15 minutes 13 seconds it takes like 50 minutes.

Some people like to be able to get through several seasons and see the players they draft progress before the next Madden comes out.

while playing 15 mins even with acc. clock set to like 12 will the CPU still score a lot? like 60+ pts, I plan on using 7 mins no acc. clock once the daggon CCM roster update comes out

My problem with the accelerated clock this year is that practice defaults to 5 minute quarters. That can make some of the challenges difficult with half the clock going to runoff, it basically means you are playing on 2.5 minute quarters.

Different settings for different people. Some may or may not work for you. Just remember the average number of snaps per team in the NFL is between 60-70. If you play a game and you can average around that, then your spot on. If you only get about 40-50 snaps a game, then you have to increase your game length.

Depends on your sliders. The highest the CPU has ever scored on me was 31-24 in my Jags franchise. It was the Bengals. Most of my scores are around 24-27

What is the right way to calculate plays per game? Which stats do you add up to determine this, are kickoffs punts and sacks included too?

When did he claim to be a "sim-gamer"? People can play the game however they want without getting judged by a "sim-snob" like yourself. "Sim-Gamers" complain that that they can't change the towel on a player, the color of his shoes, or arm sleeve then CRY because, "Why can't the Devs let me play how I want to play!" But this guys just wants to play how he wants, and he is judged.

                              LAME.
