Will speed matter in 2k13?
From what you guys seen on the 2k13 videos will the guards actually be able to beat big men up the court? Kind of annoying when I'm playing with my bulls and D Rose getting fetched on breaks when he's clearly the fastest guy in the league. Hopefully they fix his stiff crossover too.Tags: None -

they've stated that speed will matter this year but I need to see gameplay to really believe it -

Re: Will speed matter in 2k13?
It's already been discussed but, to answer your question
Yes speed will matter! finally you can get around Centers, Power forwards etc etc without them sticking to you like glue.

Re: Will speed matter in 2k13?
Hopefully. One of my biggest peaves was not being able to get separation (especially in fast breaks) with the speedsters. This was a problem even in half court sets, like you go around a nice screen but the trailing defender still "sucks" you back and goes back in front.Comment

Re: Will speed matter in 2k13?
also the cpu recovery speed was ridiculous as well hopefully thats fixed. I've crossed a guy over and made him go the opposite direction while I have a free lane to the basket but yet he recovers before I can lay it up smhComment

Re: Will speed matter in 2k13?
Speed is important, but I hope they wont make it a deciding factor in every play because that is not real. One of the things I hate the most in 2k12 is how effective the run and gun is, it doesnt make any sense to play with an organized system and try real basketball because it is way too rewarding just to run, atack the rim (thanks to the inexistant on ball defense) or shot at first opportunity, ridiculous...
I am waiting a game that helps people who try to play real basketball over cheesers who try to win at any cost...
I hate how to try to win a ranked game against a seasoned cheeser you have to also cheese in order to have a chance, you have to score 60+ or 70+ (that is way too high for 5 mins quarter, ridiculous!) in order to win, even trying to play the best of the defenses... In that way 2k11 was much more balanced...
Cheers! ;-)Last edited by Guard-ian; 09-07-2012, 03:10 AM.Ignorance is Bliss...Comment

Re: Will speed matter in 2k13?
Yeah they haven't said whether fatigue will matter yet but I think it will. Or otherwise there is no penalty for speed. So if they opened up the speed then they will have to balance it with fatigue or it will be arcadey. Some of those Gamescon videos had players getting fatigued with gatorade symbols in less than 5 minutes so that is a good sign.Comment

Re: Will speed matter in 2k13?
In the NBA, the player with the most stamina will be exhausted after a full quarter (and needs some time in the bench to recover), and that is playing at normal pace, but playing full speed 'cheasers style' their players should 'gatorade' way before than that, definitely that would be a great way to penalize them and get a better simulation experience...
Besides, I hope this time Turbo is effective and it makes a difference because in 2k12 turbo was useless, in fact you could go faster and blow by your opponents (way too) easier without it... Turbo must be effective but be balanced with a big impact on energy.
