With that being said, the new CCM mode sounds unique and promising, but still has a long way to go based on my own experiences and what I've read from others. What I don't get though is why things have to be so confusing or complex in regard to this year's game. I'm reading information all over this board about online CCM, offline CCM, play now rosters, week 2 rosters, original 53 man rosters, 75 man rosters, etc. I'm thoroughly confused. I have 2 little boys, a wife, and 40+ hour a week job. My gaming time is limited. When I actually get a chance to play, I don't have much time to explore all of these things and figure out exactly what each one is or does. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I have been confused from day 1 with Madden 13 and the options/features. It seems that the more I read, the more confused I become. Having roster updates that are the same for all modes, or allowing roster customization for CCM would be great....and far easier to follow and understand.

Why does this have to be so confusing?
I admit, I'm 36 and probably more old school than some or most of you guys when it comes to these games and all of their features. Most of the new frills and features in sports games, especially those online, don't do much for me. Basically, all I ever want out of a sports game is good or decent game play, franchise mode, reasonable AI decision making, and a little customization with rosters.

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
Agree with you man...keep it simple. I like the whole CCM approach, now they just need to fine tune it and it'll be great.
As far as confusion, what are you confused about exactly? Would be glad to answer any questions you have...

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
I don't think the menus are doing the games any favors. I'm also around your age, I love CCM, love the XP stuff, but everything is so clunky. Navigation is slow, you can only see five attributes at a time, you have to press about six clicks to see simple stuff like standings in your division and whatnot, no transaction log... etc.
The mode is good, but whoever designed the user interface needs to go back to the drawing board.Comment

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
Well, I'll start with this. If I want to start an offline CCM this weekend with current or at least somewhat current rosters, what roster options do I have?Comment

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
Agreed...I like the old-style layout better...everything was much easier to find without confusion.
As far as rosters are concerned, the weekly updates (week 2 now) are only for Play Now. And as of today, you have a choice in your CCM:
1. The originial 75 man preseason roster that came with the game
2. The final 53-man post-preseason roster that has the updated rosters each team began the real season with (supposedly)
If you want the new roster in CCM though, you'll have to restart it

I don't think the final roster counts... don't CCM rosters have more than 53 players so you can go through cut days?Agreed...I like the old-style layout better...everything was much easier to find without confusion.

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
You posted this while I was typing above lol
The original roster is the 75-man roster that each team started the pre-season with. This allows you to cut players and things like that yourself
The new roster is the final 53-man roster post-preseason. Although there may be slightly more than 53...I think I had to cut 2 or 3 players when I restarted my CCM.

I feel your pain. I'm 39 and have a two year old, a wife, and full time job. Gaming time is limited, to say the least. I just want to get a game in without it being so complicated...

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
EA said they are supposed to be the 53-man rosters, but they aren't really... The Steelers had guys that we had cut and signed to practice squad still on the new roster, so I had to end up cutting 2 or 3 players i think...either way, the roster was pretty close.
Can't really speak for other teams though lol

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
Ok thanks. That helps and answered another question of mine. I was thinking that you could use the updated 53 man roster, but that you had an option of making it 75. I was wondering where the extra players came from. Thanks for clearing that up. Do you know if guys cut on the updated roster disappear like guys did when you cut them from the 75 man roster for preseason? You posted this while I was typing above lol

Also, I never play anyone online so I don't know much about it. Would it be possible for me to set up an online CCM only for myself? If so, what are the advantages or disadvantages of online CCM as opposed to offline CCM?Last edited by crques; 09-14-2012, 01:06 PM.Comment

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
I just knew there were separate CCM rosters, because when I started mine, it told me my Connected Careers roster was out of date. The roster that I downloaded still had like 70-something guys on the 49ers roster.EA said they are supposed to be the 53-man rosters, but they aren't really... Yes, I play online CCM by myself, just set league to private and reduce your maximum players to 1. The only advantage I know of is you'll get the online tuning updates when they're released as opposed to waiting for a patch if your playing offline. The only disadvantage is your prone to server issues from time to time...many have been disconnected during games and forced to replay, though it hasn't happened to me yet

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
Thanks for answering my questions and clearing some things up. At times I miss the simple days of patch free games, limited sliders, and default rosters that you could edit and stick in a franchise and roll with them. Not sure if they disappear, though I'm sure they do knowing EA...lol

Re: Why does this have to be so confusing?
no problem! Glad to help...feel free to IM me with any other questions!
With a little luck, we'll get the roster edit patch we're all screaming for...nothing drives me more crazy than having three different #17 jerseys on my team! lol
Before online gaming, game makers HAD to make sure the product was right before release...now I'm afraid they just rush everything and say "Oh well, we can always patch this or tune that if it doesn't work right..."
I have a love/hate relationship with technology lolLast edited by jwin122; 09-14-2012, 01:25 PM.
