Can a player be traded whilst on waivers?

    Hi All,

    Quick question.

I am GM of a league and I have the following scenario...

Player A has placed a player on waivers.

Player B has claimed the player.

Player A has then tried to use this player in a trade with a different player.

Does anyone know the rule for this in the NHL or has it never happened?

    Cheers

I believe once they're on waivers they can't be moved until the period is over. If the player is claimed then he belongs to the team that claimed him and can't be traded.
