Any help would be appreciated. I finally got my sliders set in a way that gives me a pretty good game except for the ridiculously amazing CPU passing game.

Need pass D help....ready to give up
I don't know what is going on but I am about ready to give up on M13. I simply cannot stop the CPU passing. Well...let me restate that...I can stop it except on 3rd and long. Everytime...no matter what play I pick...whether or not I commit pass....the CPU QB always hits a wide receiver who has beaten my CB by 10-20 yards for wide open touch downs. Its gotten to the point that I am either going to sell this game or just sim my defense.
Any help would be appreciated. I finally got my sliders set in a way that gives me a pretty good game except for the ridiculously amazing CPU passing game.Tags: None -
Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
1)
I've noticed on All-Madden the CPU usually has really good passing on 3rd downs.
2) Know your defense, do you have fast corners and safeties? Slow corners and safeties? Guys with high man or high zone? Can your DBs press? Play to their strengths. You might be calling man defense plays while your DBs man coverage is in the 70s. Thats asking to get killed.
3) Read the offensive formation. If it looks like they are favoring one side, bring some help to that side, if it looks like you have a hole over the middle-cover it.
4)Mix your plays, I find if you call the same play the CPU will find the holes and exploit it. Mix in Blitz's get pressure on the QB
Just keep playing and pay attention to what you are getting beat with, and what works and make adjustments. It starts to become automatic after a while -
Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
It's doing this to me no matter what level I play on. This happened when I was in pass defense and committed pass. Both man to man and zone. I even tried spotlighting a receiver...he still was 20 yards behind my CB for an 75 yard TD.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
Change your pass defense reaction time. Also, might want to lower qb accuracy and wr receiving for the cpu.Don't watch the scoreboard, just do what you do. Or as another of my coaches used to say, "don't worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon"Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
Same thing is happening to me to a certain degree. I am having no problem stopping the AI until third and long. They continuous burn me with crossing routes deep and comebacks. It doesn't matter what defense I run, they are going to convert 80% of their 3rd and longs. The other day, I hit the QB on what I believe to be a coverage sack, but he managed to throw the ball 50 yards while falling to the ground and hit a jumping triple covered receiver in the hands for the game winning touchdown. I do not believe a QB should be able to complete a 50 yard throw while in the process of falling down. How is this real physics? Needless to say, pass commit is totally useless for me. My DB's are rated high in man coverage and mediocre in zone, but I am starting to find some success using the cover two sink on third and long. Fortunately, my offense is able to generate plenty of points to keep me in most games, but it is frustrating.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
theres a glitch in game where the #2 cb get torched alot he'll just stand there and let the wr run by for instant td's had it happen to me in almost every game i played in 13. i heard it has do something with pass/run commit so now i useally back he safetys up that way if ball does go that way theres a safety to help.Comment

Is this offline ccm? If so I have the opposite problem, CPU only throws lobs to the sideline.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
turn your pass defense reaction time up. i usually have mine set @ 75....before Every qb was torching my secondary. The straw that broke the camel's back was when Romo threw three bombs in a row all one play touchdowns to the wideout running a streak. I went into the replay and saw that as soon as the ball was snapped my corners ran 15 yards towards the LOS before realizing it was a pass.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
Idk if its just me but when i play zone 2 things happen that get me killed in the passing game.
1) my guys dont respect guys coming into or leaving their zone.
2) my guys will not swarm to the ball after a catch is made.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
Zone D is definitely when I get burned the worst. This really sucks....I want to like this game...but this really just about kills the game for me. I have my pass reaction set to 100. Even with my pass rush set high I can still get no pressure on the CPU QB.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
This is counter intuitive but some guys in the slider thread have said the pass reaction slider is backwards. Try putting it at zero and see if that changes the pass defense for the better. Let me if you try it out and find anythig as im stuck at work all night.
I can deal with getting beat in zone but i cant stand my defense not reacting after the catch.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
3rd and long is when you should be blitzing.
If you are constantly getting beat on crossing routes shade the coverage inside.
Know the matchups. I use the Ravens and played the 49ers the other day. SS Bernard Pollard was matched up vs Davis whenever I blitzed in the first half. Like it should be, VD was burning Pollard on corner routes. I allowed it on purpose in the 1st half, but in the 2nd I shut that **** down.
Zone is tricky. If you are in a zone you should not be complaining about giving up the pass. The other dayone of my friends was complaining about the same thing as the OP. I asked what defense he uses and he said cover 2 zone. I laughed at him. If you are not blitzing and are in a zone on 3rd and long you will get beat 90% of the time. It depends on distance though. 3rd and 15 you should be safe in cover 4. Really on 3rd and long cover 4 is the only vanilla zone you should be in. But that is only if your defense is good at tackling
On 3rd and long if I am not blitzing I am probably just in a cover 2 man defense. But there is no money type play on defense. Know your players and matchups and call plays with that in mind. It does not help you to press with your corner if your corner is only rated 84 in press and is going up against a guy with 90+ release.Comment

Re: Need pass D help....ready to give up
As usual zone defense gets no support from EA. They refuse to properly code the defense to play zone right. Instead of backpedaling to a empty location, they should run up and follow the actual receiver. But they keep going back to their "spot" and leave receivers wide open.
Man is sometimes worse, because your defense runs into each other, gets confused, and the safeties never actually play like safeties, more like spectators.Comment
