    2013 NHL Draft

Too early? Probably but with the lockout looming why not. I'll probably watch a lot of WHL games this year if there's a lockout.

I think the motto for 2013 draft is "Stop winnin' for MacKinnon. The #1 guy is Nathan MacKinnon, #2 D Seth Jones. I'll be watching a lot of Hunter Shinkaruk though, one of the best scorers in this draft. He scored 49 goals 42 assist in 66 games as a 17 year old this past year.

    Weighted Lottery:
The Draft Drawing, a weighted lottery system, was used to determine the order of selection for all seven rounds of the Entry Draft. Under the weighted lottery system, the clubs that neither qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs in each of the 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons, nor were awarded the first overall selection in each of the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004 Entry Drafts, had the greatest chance of receiving the first overall selection, 6.3 per cent.
Stole this from my bud on another forums:

    TEAMS WITH THREE BALLS (7)
Calgary, Carolina, Columbus, Dallas, Minnesota, Toronto, Winnipeg

    TEAMS WITH TWO BALLS (6)

    TEAMS WITH ONE BALL (17)
Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Detroit, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Montreal, Nashville, New Jersey, New York (R), Ottawa, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Jose, Vancouver, Washington

Pavel Buchnevich is a name to watch. He is 17-years-old and already playing in the KHL.

Also Slepyshev was draft eligible last yr. Don't know where he's projected other than being listed in Russia A Skaters but someone could have gotten him with a 7th in 2012 and now will have to use much higher pick.

I hope like hell that Popey Jones' kid Seth doesn't end up becoming a Maple Leaf. That has disaster written all over it.

I'll laugh. I'll laugh even harder if Columbus somehow get the top 3 pick in the draft

This would be the only positive aspect of a lockout. I know this is the only shot that the Bruins have of drafting top ten. I would say at this point MacKinnon is probably a safe bet to go #1 overall followed by Jones or Monahan.

I love the draft though, it's just exciting to see all this new talent coming into the league.

I can see why scouts are raving about Connor McDavid, I was watching London Knights (coached by Dale Hunter!!) and Erie Otters and McDavid was the best player on the ice by far. Not bad for a 15 year old and probably the #1 pick in his draft year. Really liked Max Domi as well (Tie Domi's kid).

Curtis Valk has 4 goals 1 assist tonight, Hunter Shinkaruk has 1 goal 3 assist, Medicine Hat Tigers up 9-1 I've been reading that Shinkaruk compares to Phil Kessel. Not only their playing styles, but they kind of look alike

Odds of winning the draft lottery

                        1 - Florida - 25.0%
                        2 - Colorado - 18.8%
                        3 - Tampa Bay - 14.2%

                        7 - Edmonton - 4.7%
                        8 - Buffalo - 3.6%
                        9 - New Jersey - 2.7%
                        10 - Dallas - 2.1%
                        11 - Philadelphia - 1.5%
                        12 - Phoenix - 1.1%
                        13 - Winnipeg - 0.8%
                        14 - Columbus - 0.5%

That Edmonton at 4.7% looks pretty good. I also think Seth the Jones will go 1st overall.

Seth Jones was in attendance when we won the cup. Yet, he's a Red Wings fan, draft Nathan MacKinnon! Jk.

                              Better Colorado than Florida.
