And this is official how? The page has a cover photo of 2k12 on it, has no legitimate info or links from 2k, and it says the page was created in June. Please think before you go posting stuff like this as "official", thanks.

Please excuse my ignorance with regards to licensing issues, but I thought that 2k just did not renew the exclusive rights to mlb when the contract expired. Would this prevent 2k from continuing the series? It would be as before the exclusive licensing stuff-where there would be baseball games from multiple companies.

I was always under the assumption that exclusive rights gave 2k zero competition (except for the show). Now that the contract is over, what's to prevent them from 2k13?

Am I totally off on these assumptions?

With regards too the MLB license, I think any company have too obtain those rights too duplicate the property of the MLB. The same with any professional sports, they are property of that entity. So u must negotiate a term of obtaining that property for a certain time. People just can't make a professional sports game and officially get the uniforms, names...etc with the consent of that entity. So 2k have too talk with the MLB about making a game on the terms of what the MLB wants. Maybe they will negotiate with a lesser contract. 2k made the mistake when the got the exclusive third party license, thinking that would stiffle competition. It did on the XBOX, but not on Sony. That's where they made there mistake. I would love for 2k too make 2k13, but they lost so much money on the license, that I think they will only concentrate on the NBA2K series from here out. Here's too hoping, because right now they have a solid series and they only have certain things too fix that can get them in the SHOW status.

It would be nice if they came back, the series was headed in the right direction IMO. But the license is probably to expensive.

If EA isn't jumping on board, I don't think there will be any takers for the license at all (if The Show stays on ps3). I think it will make more sense for the MLB to make SOME money rather than no money at all.

The question is if the XBOX will have a baseball game next year?

Seeing the Japanese online game coming out recently, I'm wondering if EA might follow up with an online, or DL'd version for WBC next year?

I really hope The Show isn't the only game in town. I can't believe that one of the most popular sports in the world will only have 1 game to choose from; and a console-exclusive at that.

I seem to remember that nba 2k12 had an ad in the booklet for MLB 2k12.

Well, if you check the facebook page it now says:

We are upset to inform you that there will NOT be another release of MLB 2K. We are shutting down the page as of Friday, October 5th. Thank you fans!


Obviously we have no indication regarding how legit the page is, but yeah.

I got nba 2k13, but there is no indication of mlb in the manual.

Seems to be an absolute outside chance anything gets released.

If I had to give an educated guess, I would say that MLB 2K is done putting out games. I don't think they're going to renew their license agreement with MLB because it's probably too expensive and they most likely don't have the revenue to pay for it, I personally believe that EA may revive the MVP Baseball series for the 2014 shelves

Good idea. I'm tired of seeing updates in this thread only to get my heart torn out.

RIP MLB2K. I still love 2K12 and hopefully with roster updates, can continue enjoying it for a few more years to come.
