EA agrees to give up NCAA Football exclusivity

Proposed settlement to antitrust suit over pigskin monopoly would see publisher give up its grip on the college football license for at least five years, starting in 2014.

And even if EA give up the license, 2k aren't going to make a football game. Sony or someone else might. I'd actually like to see a Sony football game.

Even if it's not NFL, it would be cool to see 2K take what NFL2k5 was to this console generation w/ NCAA.

I mean, College Hoops 2K8 is still being played by a lot of the community. I'm sure 2K could make something that in depth for football. It wouldn't have all the glitz and glamor that EA has but I'd still like to see it happen!

Their cfb was terrible.

I doubt that 2k would settle for making a cfb game since they can't make an NFL game.

Don't get me wrong, it'd be great to have an alternative to NCAA Football (which has CLEARLY jumped the shark). However, it just seems like a pipe dream to me.

I would love to see Sony make a football game for this gen, even if it is only NCAA. NFL Gameday was great back on the PS1. If there's anyone I have faith in to make a great sports game it's Sony. Sadly though, I think the whole big lawsuit against the NCAA may scare anyone and everyone away from making any NCAA games for awhile.

I don't know why anyone would say 2k may not be interested in an NFL game. They just approached the NFL about getting the license a year or so ago, So they are definitely still in the market for making a game. Id say if the license was available to them, They would most certainly make an NFL game

If it ever happens(which I am not too certain it will, sadly, just ebcause of the ruling back in July where Arena football and NCAA can come back but EA can still bid on NFL) the expectations from true fans is going to be so huge it would probably fail. In fact EA should give them their crack at it...could work out in their favor...c'mon EA let them do it.
