Throwing the HB screen?

I've been trying to work the HB screen game back into my offense to deal with online blitzers, but I'm having a ridiculous amount of trouble completing the pass. In 12, I got it down to where I'd lead the halfback outside right after he came out of his little "stop" animation, because it would usually ensure that he caught it with a little speed.

In 13, it's become one of the lowest % passes I can throw. If I lead him outside or upfield, the QB frequently misses him by a mile. Or worse, the halfback goes into the diving catch animation for a 2-3 yard loss. If I don't lead him at all, frequently the pass will sail right past the back's facemask without him reacting to it.

What's the trick here?

Do you have Xbox 360? If so we can Lab so you can practice on your screens while I blitz. The thing is to not to go to far back or else your QB will fall short of throwing it to the QB.

Don't lead him anywhere, hit him with a lob pass before he does the stop.

I normally wait as long as possible before I get hit before throwing the quick lob. The more it develops before you throw the better position the RB is in to catch the ball and the blockers have more time to get out front and block for a bigger gain.

When throwing the hb screen, I like to hot route the hb to run an out instead of the default screen route. Seems to help the timing of the play. This would be for an outside screen not a middle one.
