Re: Calling It Now Miguel Cabrera Cover Athlete: MLB The Show 13
I really want an NL guy to get it for the first time since 08, but Miggy is the most lucrative cover athlete if they can sign him. -

Triple Crown winner. What an accomplishment. If Miggy doesn't win AL MVP, I will have lost all faith in the Baseball Writers Association of America."Don't be afraid to go to number 23, he's alright."Comment

And what a great way to pay homage to Miguel Cabrera and the team he plays for than to include Tiger Stadium. Just sayingComment

Re: Calling It Now Miguel Cabrera Cover Athlete: MLB The Show 13
I just hope Miggy hasn't ever juiced in his career. I've loved him since he debuted with the Marlins, and think he's surpassed Manny in many, if not all, batting approach qualities/skills (both mental and physical).
If he is ever suspecting of it though, I don't know if SCEA would pull the trigger on someone like that. Plus, they need their athlete to be a well-qualified spokesperson. No offense to Cabrera, but I wouldn't consider him to be the highly communicative type for a U.S. product.
Personally, I think Prince Fielder has a "spokesperson" quality to him (and we've seen him in commercials before), so he might have a chance to be the cover athlete over Miguel Cabrera.
What you all really have to remember is that they've signed their cover athlete months ago. They're not deciding in November or something.Last edited by Blzer; 10-04-2012, 11:56 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Calling It Now Miguel Cabrera Cover Athlete: MLB The Show 13
I agree with on you the PED's. I am first a huge Tigers fan, have been all through the rough years of the 90's to present, that also goes hand in hand with being a huge Cabrera, Fielder, and Verlander fan just to name a few. With Cabby being such an effective hitter, the unfortunate fact of the steriods era is, now we have to at least wonder whenever a player reaches these types of milestones.I just hope Miggy hasn't ever juiced in his career. As for a good spokes person I can see your point, but I do not remember much out of Adrian Gonzalez during his time? I could be wrong though. I also think that it is much more important for a game like 2k to have a vocal spokes person than The Show just because The Show can sell itself. Just my opinion.Comment

Mike Trout should definitely be the cover guy over Miggy..."The most amazing things that can happen to a human being will happen to you if you just lower your expectations."Comment

Re: Calling It Now Miguel Cabrera Cover Athlete: MLB The Show 13
I'm not sure I understand the mocking of the original poster for his prediction, as if it's a foregone conclusion that Cabrera would be the choice.
I could easily see a videogame company not being wild about the idea of Cabrera as a cover athlete. It's not like it's unheard of for sports covers to be given to the clean-cut safe choices instead of the guy with off-field problems.
Nobody wants to be the next ones to go through a situation like when EA scrambled to replace Dany Heatley from their NHL cover after he killed a guy by hitting him with his car.
A guy whose history includes drunk driving and suspicions of domestic abuse isn't exactly the dream choice for a videogame spokesman, Triple Crown or not, MVP or not.
I mean I could see them picking him despite the baggage, just for the prestige of the "Triple Crown" honor. But it's not like he's far-and-away the best or only or most obvious choice, to the point where you need to mock someone for "going on out on a limb" for predicting someone too obvious. I think the off-field issues alone make him unlikely to be the front-runner for the cover.Comment

For all of those with the failed attempt of trying to mock me, the entire comment was said in jest. I understand that you cannot tell that in text, but come on guys the line itself, "you heard it here first folks" wasn't a dead give away?
The purpose of this thread was not, "oh look at my prediction", it was to start a conversation about whether Cabrera should be the cover athlete; and I have achieved this for the most part.Comment
