this might be the worst 2k game to play online that ive played. theres no such thing as on ball defense as theres no to defend a guy that just does 1000 moves in a row. Feels like only thing you can do on d is play off ball and and switch off when man gets the ball. the defenders take way to long to react or change directions on the court. Amare stoudamire can just drive around defenders like its nothing and why is there no help d?? with help d at 99 no1 even comes over to help..i play with bulls which is one of the top Defensive teams in the league and the d awareness is pathetic while playing online.

I disagree. You need to get in the gym. Scrimmage against the Thunder on HOF and play on ball defense if you want to get better.Lineup:

Tried this. Didn't work for me. Even playing against the A.I there are times were a have a defensive angle to make a play, but it's like my defender just can't get there. Either the response is too slow, or there just isn't any contact. I just played a game against the Griz and Gay was just posterizing everyone. There was a play where he was atleast 15 ft from the basket and just moved Chandler all the way to the basket with his dunk animation. And guess what, he got the And-1. Trust me I've tried L2, shading, I've even tried L2 + R2. Doesn't work.Comment

i agree about the dribbling, its ridiculous, even with pick pocket its nearly impossible to strip guys who over dribble, now onto regards of myplayer blacktop i maxed out pick pocket, and got 99 def awareness, steal, and on ball D... always time steals perfect when they put the ball right in my hands basically, and its never a strip, i actually get punished more than rewarded for making the smart play, really annoys me, if anything would be an indicator of the over powered dribble moves it would be this, and this is even against big guys, with no handleComment

Go into the controller's option menu. Turn off shot contest assistance and put the defensive assist slider to 0. They're not called exactly that but they're both at the bottom of the menu. It will reduce the input lag there is in defence. Try it. I coudn't play D before doing that.Comment

I have no problem with steals. It's easy to rip people because it seems like it's about timing.
I do have a problem with how slow guys run if they aren't sprinting. Nobody has any lateral quickness at all. Sometimes I'll be in front of a guy, playing tight defense on him, and he can just bump me out of the way. Don't get me wrong, the physics is a bit improved this year, though. Defenders just can't hit their angles or run fast.
By the way, for some reason, Kris Humphries and Blake Griffin LOVE standing at the 3 line on offense. Humphries is a huge fan of also standing at the 3 line on defense too. No matter what play I call, these guys are living by the Andrew Bynum mindset.Comment

I have noticed this while playing a guy that was the Suns. Gortat was always standing on the three point line and I could tell he didn't want that happening.
My two issues are defensive rebounding and the rotation on defense. I allow so many offensive rebounds per game, almost 15 or 20 a game. And it is usually my center or power forward getting out rebounded by a SF. The rotation on defense needs to be fixed. Shooters are open all the time on defense for me. The players just move away from the shooters leaving them wide open.Comment

there is an unrealistic burst by many guards. plus, it is very difficult to both shots around the basket so far in my experience. Going to put so more time in but it seems like its gonna be an uphill battle for me this year.

The post pass is WAY to easy this year esp online.I played a guy that played as the lakers and he did nothin but chunk the ball down low to Dwight.Not in post up position mind you,Dwight was just standing there and could catch the ball at will.Comment

Erm...yeah...and? What's your point? In real-life, the post player SHOULD be able to catch the ball at will. It's not exactly a 50ft bounce pass. I don't know how anybody would prefer how it was done in previous 2K's. Would you prefer to only be able to pass the ball into the post when the guy is in post position? Would you rather be forced to give a floaty pass to an UNMARKED post player which is easily intercepted by the defender EVERY SINGLE TIME?
If you're getting killed in the post, you have to do your defense BEFORE the pass is made, i.e. not allowing Dwight to get such deep position by clicking on to his defender and pushing him out or getting a stronger defender on him, preferably with the appropriate sig skill.Originally posted by Dogslax41Comment

On default, interior defense is non existant due to the sliders. Creating contact does nothing to alter shots. On sim it works much much better. Ranked should be on simulation settings.Comment

I will def try this b/c lag plus on ball d is not a good combination, I mean some ppl I think are being ridiculous when they say "I can stop lebron and wade with no problem" and then you play them and its totally a different story trust me I've came across these guys so I never believe anyone who talks that........ but this I will try LOLComment
