I'm back and ready to go whether the "Real" NHL is or not. The Hawks enter this season with questions, a lot of them. Most of those questions are stemming from an ugly first round defeat last year at the hands of the Phoenix Coyotes. The good news, Marian Hossa seems 100% after the viscous attack from Raffi Torres during game three in the playoffs last year. The bad news? Or should I say the unanswered question is can Corey Crawford be the guy, he will be given every opportunity, but the leash will not be very long so strong play from him is important early. The special teams need to get better as they were near the bottom of the league in both the Power Play and the Penalty Kill, so the focus will be on improvement in those areas.

As far as the lines go, Patrick Kane will be the stop gap solution at second line center. Bolland is more valuable to our team as the 3rd line center for now, and I would prefer Sharp on the wing vs. him at center. So it defaults to Kane for now, but if an opportunity presents itself to improve at that spot I won't hesitate to jump at the chance.

Thank you so much for the support last year, it was amazing and a lot of fun. I hope you guys are as excited for this as I am, here...we...go...

Thanks for reading, commenting, and following..

Side note, I will do a lot of graphical updates from games, I've played the first five games, so at this point I'm just updating the scores from the games. I will do stats/standings updates every 10 games, and every once in awhile I will do full game recaps. I don't have my PVR connected yet at the new house so I can't post game photo's or video highlights yet. I will update frequently, but I'm trying to get a feel for how I want to do the updating, stats/box for each game, goal scorers, etc. I will get in a groove and it will be fun for all , hope you guys like the graphics, been working hard on them, anyone who has followed my previous dynasty knows that!

Tough opening night loss to the Jackets who were much more ready at the drop of the puck than we were, that's unacceptable, and will change.

        Thanks for following, as always!

Much better effort right from the puck drop, trailed 1-0, and 2-1 before knotting the game at two with a thrilling goal with just under 50 seconds remaining in the game. Had to kill a penalty in OT, Hossa potted the winner in OT just after we killed the penalty. GREAT road win, screw that, great win period, hopefully this sends us on an early season run to get some valuable early points.

What a fantastic performance for sixty minutes, top to bottom. Hawks started fast by scoring twice in the first period and rode Corey Crawford the rest of the way to win their second straight. Crawford wasn't tested too often in this one, but when he was, he was up to the task. The Hawks are feeling good about themselves and their game as they head into the first meeting of the season against the Red Wings on Saturday Night at the UC.

Fresh off two solid wins the Hawks clashed with Red Wings in an early season test and passed with flying colors. The Hawks jumped on the Wings early, and despite a late goal from Pavel Datsyuk to make things interesting the Hawks skated to a 4-1 victory, their third straight. "I know this is the type of hockey this team is capable of playing, it's just a matter of keeping our compete level at a high rate for 60 minutes, tonight we did that" Coach Q said in the post game presser. The Hawks get two days off before heading into St. Louis for another divisional showdown.

You know what happens when you come into a game with too much confidence?? You take your opponent for granted and get your face beat in, and that's exactly what happened. The Blues beat the crap out of the Hawks, and it started with the special teams, which were anything but special. The Hawks penalty killing was awful, and the goaltending was not much better, and that's all that needs to be said about this one. Three days off before the Sharks invade the UC, Ray Emery is getting the start for the Hawks

Here are the notes from the morning skate as the Hawks take on the Sharks tonight... Ray Emery will indeed lead the team out onto the ice tonight and get his first start of the season. Michael Frolik will be dropped to the fourth line and Jimmy Hayes will be elevated to the second line and skate with Kane and Stalberg. This isn't something that I expect to be a long term solution, more of a light a fire situation. The Hawks enter tonights game at 3-2, and the Sharks are off to a great start at 4-1-1, Antii Niemi is expected to start for the visitors.

Nothing else can be said except Niemi was a beast and was definitely playing with a chip on his shoulder in this one, he was stellar. Toews opened the scoring early in the second period as the Hawks controlled the play in the first only allowing four shots to get through to Emery. The Sharks power play brought them back to even mid way through the second as Joe Thornton found a loose puck in the slot and beat a startled Emery. Only two minutes later Ryan Clowe won a battle in front and was able to one time a puck into basically an empty net to make it 2-1. Niemi kept the score right there as the Hawks swarmed the Sharks in the third period but they were unable to solve Niemi. The Hawks finished with 34 shots compared to just 19 for the Sharks, but the only thing that matters is the score. The Hawks have lost two straight, expect the lineup changes to remain the same for next game, however Crawford will be back in net, should be interesting against the Coyotes.
