    Deny Ball

I can't get my players to deny ball. I have turned help defense to zero set deny ball on the shooters yet the player is still sagging to the elbow helping. Has anyone else experienced this.

Set your defense to play tight, on-ball and off ball.
Sometimes you gotta' stand by your failures to recognize your success.

Deny Ball is the off ball pressure and how much they will jump the pass. Are you talking about on ball defenders?

No I'm talking about off-ball. I was playing the Bobcats and I set Avery Bradley to play tight on-ball and deny off-ball on Ben Gordon, but he still sags all the way down to the elbow helping. Then he's helping so much he leaves Gordon open at the 3 point line for an open 3

I don't like the sound of that. Looks like coach profiles/strategy are not working properly.

It could be that you have your strategy set to lock down the paint. Defenders will sag waaaaaayyy off to help in the paint.

I don't know why people are explaining it like the guy is stupid . The OP obviously knows what it is because he's trying to get his men to do that. He's saying the settings are not working properly...

Definitely a minor complaint of mine was that settings didn't stick in 2k12. I don't know if they fixed it (doubt it) but here is an example of what would happen in 2k12 against the Celtics:

At tipoff I go into defensive settings and set Ray Allen to deny ball, Rondo to sag off, Pierce play tight (off ball and on) and a bunch of other changes.

At some point later in the game Allen and Pierce are on the bench and rondo decides to take over the game by attacking the rim. I switch to lock down the paint to stop that.

Later the regular unit is back on the floor so I switch back to the original Coach default settings but all my original settings are erased.

It was as if the game said either use the quick in game settings or the manual menu settings; you cannot use both and rotate back and forth.

It is a common trend here on OS for posters to talk out of their ***. with questions and bug threads you will notice many posters basically guess the problem/answer even if they have no idea what they are talking about.

I never use the quick defensive strategy because it always resets your defensive assignments

Are you playing offline Association? If you are, I found a way for it not to reset your defensive strategy. What you do is right before you "save and exit", you go to your defensive settings and make sure you're at "Custom" and then "save and exit". When you load your Association file back your "Custom" settings will have stayed.
