Hey all

Whats the easiest way to record "game film" of games that I play?

Basically, I want to set it up where me and the other two users in my OD can exchange film for two reasons:

One- to help prepare each other for certain things we do. That way, people would have to expand their playbooks to a degree. What worked in week 8 may not work if we meet in a bowl. What worked against the other user may not work against me, etc.

Two- to prevent cheating against the CPU.

Is this a plausible idea? We could exchange USB drives no problem, or DVDs... but basically if its possible, I want to record it on my CPU to a USB and we can just buy three thumb drives and exchange them on a regular basis. I just dont know how to do it...

Thoughts?

Ive wondered the same thing....I see ncaa videos with commentary over them and wonder how they make em.

I use my cell phone. I have a Samsung Galaxy S-2. It can record up to 1080p video but I run it at 480p to keep the file size lower. It records in mp4 so no need to encoding or reencoding. Personally I film the game then hook the phone up to my computer, copy the film over then upload it to Youtube. About 20 minutes later its posted and archived for later viewing.

All you need is to make a decent stand that will line up with your tv and just press record when the game starts. I use a bar stool on top of my coffee table. I then needed a little more height so i use a couple cigar boxes and machined a block of metal to hold the phone. I then needed something heavy but small to prop the phone up against to allowed for easy adjusting of the viewing angle. Well a grenade works well for that. Total cost: $149 for the phone that I already had and everything else I already had just laying around my apartment.




But as Deegeezy said you guys are taking this way to far...

(coming for the guy who records all his games so when he is bored at work can watch them and look for mistakes and ways to improve).

For between $150 & $200 apiece, you could each get an Elgato or Hauppauge HD-PVR and capture your games that way. These allow you to connect your console to your PC and capture footage that way. Then distributing the video files would be up to you... or you could even livestream your games for others to watch while you play.

I have the Hauppauge HD-PVR 2. got it for 150 off of amizon. it works amazing.

Yeah its and old MK2 (no powder) with a M213 training fuse on it. I picked it up about ten years ago planning on using it for a hot rod build but sold off the ride before it was finished.

I remember begging the developers to put in a 'spectator mode', at least in OD.

They ignored us, like most other features.

Wish they'd add this so we can watch game film on the other guys in the league, and be able to game plan for them like the OP said. I hate not figuring out how to stop someone until it's too late in the game, and I've lost the game by the time I figure out something that works on defense.
