The Hornets Got Three Top 10 Picks In The Draft

So i started MyCareer and did well enough in the showcase to have the Hornets pick me over Austin Rivers at #10. Now, i enter the regular season and for some reason i find Austin Rivers on the roster...

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if the other teams decided to pass up on Rivers and we somehow got lucky in 2nd round.

It's possible the Hornets got him through a trade during the draft. Perhaps threw away future draft picks for Rivers? Just a possibility.

Its not a bug, your my player draft is just for show, once your season starts the real rosters are used. My player and Davis are both #1 picks.

As is the case with the previous few 2k's, who you get drafted over still goes on the team that he got drafted by in real life. If you actually replaced someone in the draft, then it would literally change almost every single draft pick in the future, which I'm sure 2k is simply to lazy to code into their game. Assuming you bumped each pick by one with no switches, then the entire roster for teams past the 10th pick would draft different rookies than they did in real life.

It would be cool to see all the rookies after you go to different teams because of you, but that is not the case. They will always use the most updated rosters upon making your myplayer, and thus Rivers and Davis will both be on the Hornets, despite you technically taking Rivers' place.

What do you expect? Rovers on another team?

Makes sense it would suck if Anthony Davis went to the Bobcats while you went #1 yet the in-game talks about the Hornets drafting Davis and the Cats drafting MKG.

Yeah, that would throw off the entire draft order and make the game feel cheap/unrealistic..

Getting drafted at the same spot as another guy is unrealistic too. The only way to make it realistic would be if it siimmed year 1 and your player was in the 2013 draft.

Not as unrealistic as moving everybody down one.

Maybe not but I would hope it wouldn't be just moving everybody down one. It would probably be the AI making picks after you go #1 or whatever.

For example, if you're a scoring PG and the Hornets take you at #1, they wouldn't take Rivers or any other guard at 10. Also Drummond probably still comes off the board at 9 to Detroit because they have no reason to not take him. So maybe they take Meyers Leonard. Maybe they reach for a SF or a PF. Maybe they trade down because there isn't anyone they want with that pick.

If you got drafted number 1 it would probably be all of them moving down one spot until Sacramento at 5 who would probably still take Thomas Robinson as they have no need for Dion Waiters really, so that leaves Waiters for Portland who might take him, then the Warriors would still take Barnes as Lillard wouldn't be needed with Curry. That means that Lillard would likely go to the Raptors at 8, Drummond at 9, and then the Hornets have the choice of Rivers, Ross or a big man like Leonard, depending on what position you were at 1.

So it's not just as simple as everyone moving down one position.
