Contemplating the jump to FM13 from FIFA13

I've been enjoying the CM Manager mode in FIFA 13 - taking my Columbus Crew to dominating status and snagging recruits from premier teams in the world - and am considering the switch to FM13.

I know it's not out yet, but there's a demo - how does FM13 compare to FM12 to those of you who have 12 and have played the 13 demo? How is the 3D mode to watch your guys play? Also, how scalable are the halves in the games - I know in FIFA 13 20min halves is as long as you can get.

Basically, how highly do you recommend this to someone coming from a FIFA12/13 background?

I played the demo for a bit and I must say, I'm completely overwhelmed. lol

So many choices, options and decisions... I played as Celtic for about 90 minutes and... Holy ****. Good news is that I won my first game - First Team vs Reserves. lol 1-0 on a penalty shot in the first half.

Bad news?... I have no clue what I just did. lol

The only way to learn is to just keep going, make mistakes, and learn from them.

FM 13 is a better game than FM 12. Both games are great, but I personally like FM 13 better so far.

One thing that is good about FM 13, is that the have the classic mode. It is a stream lined version. I think you may enjoy it as a good start point.

Don't feel bad, I think most felt this way when they first played FM. I definitely fell into that category.

Once you play FM then it is difficult to go back to the FIFA or PES for two reasons. The virtual world captures you where you'll be at work doing scouting, debating if you should pony up the extra money to the agent so you can get that striker you wanted or panicking because one of your key players went out for a few months. The other reason, you won't have any time for those games.

Like others have mentioned when you first play the game it can completely overwhelm you. The important thing is take your time and learn the game and do the tutorials. The most important thing I can say is try not to do everything at once. You won't become the master tactician and scout after night. You will have failure and the key is learn from it and not become frustrated with it as the game is the most rewarding game sports I have ever played.

Lats I played was 2010 and now 2013 look so good.

FIFA career mode is so awful compared to FM

Nice that it comes out on the 2nd, that's the day after payday. Give a whole weekend to play it.

You'll probably feel a bit of a cold coming on by Sunday afternoon too.

I have a bad feeling about this game.

For one, since it takes so long to do a season/career, you won't find out until you spent untold hours in a single career that you boned it about 5 hours in. That's annoying as hell.

This game may not be for you then. Some around here have logged over 1000 hours in a single iteration of this game.

It's also realistic as hell. If your goal is to always win crush everyone around you, I would not recommend FM, but would instead tell you to start a career in Fifa or PES, buy the best players in the world, and go crazy.

You can't "bone" an entire FM career 5 hours in if said career is already at the "untold" hour mark. And even if you do mess up early and get fired, your save is not done. You can still apply to other jobs and try and redeem yourself, and you can do it in any country in the world (there are actual download packs for the Rwandan leagues, of all places).

And a season in FM does not take significantly longer than it does in FIFA/PES. Playing all the matches in a FIFA/PES season is time consuming as well. Yes, a career can take a long time, but that's because it's a CAREER. 20+ seasons shouldn't take a short while to play, and there is not a single sports game on the market where you can play 20+ seasons (playing all the matches, not simming) quickly.

Finally, I'll add that if you do struggle early, turning things around and eventually achieving managerial glory in FM is one of the most satisfying experiences I've had in any type of gaming. No, it's not always easy, but if you want nothing but success this isn't your game.

The main thing that makes this game so much better than every other game out there.

                            Exactly...

Last year being almost 20 points behind Barca to start the season, each game being a game away from being fired, having all my players almost upset and then coming back to win it all... amazing.

Like I said, all my FM moments, good or bad don't come even close from other sports games. You'll yell or throw a water bottle Wenger style when things are going bad and you'll did a fist pump when things are going well.

Like others have said, maybe this game isn't for you but for us here we're addicted.

You stick with it long enough, you'll be contemplating dropping $100 on a jersey of a guy that only exists on your computer.
