My coverage sucks.
Need help with my coverage online. I like to run 2 man under. Only problem is that no matter what I do with my DBs, they always get beat. For some reason I can't cover a simple out route, it is always open. My DBs never stay with the receivers, as soon as they make a move, I'm automatically beat. But when I'm on offense, the opponents D sticks like glue, no separation. What is the problem here, I play with a few different team, and same problem every game. Any help?Tags: None -

Re: My coverage sucks.
Shouldn't the CB at least be able to stay with him. Its not even close though, my CB is still backing up when the ball is caught. What would you suggest I run than, because I've tried zone and it is just as useless.Comment

Re: My coverage sucks.
Running the right zones can easily stop deep outs, and man coverage destroys short outs. If you run a zone coverage with pink zones on the sidelines, deep outs = interceptions. Also, short outs are actually almost impossible to run when in man coverage because if the defender is near the WR he can warp to the ball 90% of the time when it's thrown.Eagles - Flyers - Phillies - 76ers - NovaComment

Re: My coverage sucks.
Okay, well what about my DBs simply not being able to keep up. I'll check the speed, and it'll be close to the WRs speed. But if they run any kind of a route where they make a cut, My guys have no chance at making a play on the ball.Running the right zones can easily stop deep outs, and man coverage destroys short outs. That's odd, because NCAA 13's route mirroring is intense.Eagles - Flyers - Phillies - 76ers - NovaComment

Re: My coverage sucks.
I think I'm with the other 99% who use mainly cover 2 man. I feel that cover 1 man is just too easy to abuse with verts and speed mismatches. A cover 1 robber is sometimes fun to throw in if you're getting enough pressure.Eagles - Flyers - Phillies - 76ers - NovaComment

Re: My coverage sucks.
This can get you burned at the same time, but mixing in some bump and run on the receivers can keep them from getting off the line and throw off the timing between qb & wr resulting in sacks, int's, or forcing the qb to throw somewhere else. Running 2 man your safeties have coverage over the top if your cb's get beat on any vertical patterns, so it isn't too risky, but I wouldn't over use it.Comment
