NBA 2K13 in coach mode (don't control any players)

Just wondering if there is a segment of the OS community that plays NBA 2K13 in coach mode only? I know there are those that play football (Madden, NCAA, Head Coach) in coach mode but I've never tried it with an NBA game.

The elements I would be looking for are realistic plays, the ability to call plays and make adjustments, and the ability to adjust the number of touches I'd like to see from certain players. For example, say I use the Lakers and decide that I want Howard to get more touches and become the 1st option of offense, with Kobe becoming the 2nd option, would that lead to potentially 20 shots per game for Howard and 15ish shots for Kobe?

Essentially, I'm wondering if playing NBA 2K13 in both in-game and with the Association features would be strategic enough to enjoy if I never want to control the players at all.

Previously I've played normally but I've since moved on the trying to only play coach mode in sports games because I'm getting older and frankly can keep up with the stick skills required to be proficient in these games anymore.

    Thanks for any forthcoming inputs.

I play strictly Coach mode and I play it quite a lot. I was also wondering about the Community question.

You can do a lot of what you are asking about in the live game with Coach mode activated. It takes some practice playing with the coach sliders but you can design your players to play however you want once you learn how to use it.

For example, if you have a big Center like Dwight Howard that you want to abuse on the inside, set your coach slider for all shots and attacking the basket to about 50 or lower. Then set Look for players in the post" to 100. Also make sure you have a lot of plays in your offensive playbook to have a center move to the low post. Next you want to go back to your coach sliders and set Offensive Tempo (I think thats what its called, its the very top one) to around 30-40. I noticed that if this is too high the team will pass the ball to much when they are in the post, even if they have a good look. With a lower rating here, you can count on Dwight Howard to back them against the rim then go in for a hook shot.

Another good tactic I learned for attacking the post is to pick "leak out" strategy during the game. I'm not really sure exactly what this does but it seems to make the team feed the ball to the post players the most.

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

Just getting into the coach mode of this game. So far, not bad. The slider adjustments are key. I was wondering about that banner, the Coach Mode Active. Does that always stay on during the game?

I would not be surprised if coach mode was altogether removed from the game next year. Since the release of 2K12, I've posted many questions and sent various messages on why they did that to coach mode and if they plan on fixing it or patching it. So after one version and 4 patches, nothing.

I can understand if this mode is just getting totally ignored but please let me know if calling individual plays for players in coach mode is even being looked at. That's all I'm asking. If that's the case, then that's fine.

Thanks to NINJA2K for letting us know that coach mode is somewhat playable on the 360 with the Kinnect voice commands. I'd prefer to do it like I did in 2K11 but I guess if this is what 2K is gonna give us then fine.

They will be loosing me as a customer next year if coach mode is not fixed or removed.

My only wish is to take off that silly Coach Mode box on top of the screen.

that drives me nuts why does it gotta be so big...

and yes play calling would be alil funner if alil more detailed.. like i cant tell my guys to shoot a 3.. or atleast attempt to.. they dont have to every time i ask for a 3.. cause then it would be to easy.. and guys would be taking 15 a game.

But like when u go to the playbooks and u can pick up to what 4 or 5 different type of plays for each person in a priority order. like for Aldridge the first one would be post up low.. then post up high, and then maybe mid range etc etc, for someone like batum, u can have his first option be mid range, and then 3 pointer, and then maybe pick and roll man.

but during the game it would be nice if each player had a button for those.. Like example Batum say i would have to press X on ps3. for Batum and then it brings up all his play options and say 3 pointer is Square... then i could press X and then square for him to shoot a 3...
