    How to take a charge?

I position my guy in front of the defender and press B, and every time he bowls me over and I get a blocking foul!!! What am I doing wrong? I have the charging slider at 100 and the blocking slider at 50.

It's a game problem, ever since people complained about charges in 2k10 or 2k11 it been messed up.

Seems like a thin line between blocking and charging fouls. There has been plenty of times where I'm in front of my man the whole time he's doing his dribbling iso crap, attacks the basket, runs me over while in charge stance, yet I get a blocking foul. Charge card sig may help but seems like a waste. Also, by default sliders are set lower for charging fouls compared to blocking, so it may help to increase it.

Yeah, the slider for charging fouls is too low by default. I've increased mine from 50 to 70 for both User & CPU. Now I see a few times a game the CPU trying to draw charges on me, which I never saw before. I can get more calls also, you just have to make sure you let go of the left stick so you don't move at all and time it just right.

I've gotten some charge calls, but at the same time some questionable blocking calls as well.
            It's messed up, alright. :I

FUnny thing, right after I posted this I drew my first charge on a fast break. I stood my ground and in the key as they went into a euro step layup.... went right over me and got the charge. The problem is that it seems like when I set up for the charge they normally just go right around my guy! I'll have to try releasing the left stick to make sure I'm not moving. At any rate, it seems a little too tough to get a charge.

Haven't drew one charge yet me vs CPU. I played vs a friend and it was a charge fest. We were just having fun floping like a couple idiots. The mechanics work so it's deff a CPU not being able to tell Charge VS Blocking foul 9 times out of 10 times.

Charges were perfect in 2k9. Then 2k....... Anyway, 2k13's charges are way better than 12. All you had to do was hop or spin in paint to get blocking foul. smh

Re: How to take a charge?

I did a bit of research on the actual NBA rules regarding charging then tried it in game and its working correctly.
If you hold your stance less than a couple of meters and a guy runs into you it's a personal foul on you.
If you go to where he's gonna be, ie fast breaks or moving back up court, and hold stance, 9/10 they will move around you but if they hit you it's a charge.

The rule states you have to give them ample room to be able to stop, this amount of room is determined on their speed.

If they start running in the key for a layup and you move there then hold stance it will ALWAYS be a blocking foul.
You need to be in position before they get to the 3pt line.

Sometimes they will run around you or spot up shoot.
If they spot up shoot hold L1 to contest it or triangle to go for the block.
If they go around you hold L1 and draw contact, it will USUALLY force them to throw up a shot instead of a layup and chances are they will miss and you can have an easy rebound.

                    Hope this helps

I draw a good number of charges. I get a lot by guarding the ballhandler using pressure defense and when u bump them press and hold the charge button. The bump animation gives u just enough time get in position if they cross back over. U have to time it right tho

What a crock of ****A defensive player is permitted to establish a legal guarding position in the path of a dribbler regardless of his speed and distance.

                          set your slider to

                          charging 100
                          blocking 50.

Depends on what area of a hooker you would use to redeem them.

Slightly off-topic, has anyone ever gotten a call by using the flop or is it just in the game as a joke?

Yes, w/ Scola as he has charge card which gives a 50% boost to charge calls.
