    NBA 2k14: Keep, Add, Improve, Remove

    Now that the "big" patch has dropped and we all have a good idea of where 2k13 stands, i think the community should voice their opinion so it can have an impact on the 2k14 development process.

    So the theme of this thread is to post something from 2k13 that you would like to be kept, added, improved and removed for the next installment of the series.

    Let me start it off

    Keep: Sig Skills

    They do a good job of separating players in aren't always best represented by ratings alone.

    ADD: Custom plays and playbooks

    I would like the ability to create my very own plays and add them to a stand-alone custom playbook. Also I would like to be able to access both online, even if only in custom matches.

    Improve: Shot Blocking

    As of right now its down right pathetic. You aren't often rewarded for timing, the vertical of players is so sporadic, animations are very limited, body/hand/ball tracking or alignment is off etc...

    Remove: The Stylized Presentation

    I want to be immersed in a tv style broadcast and 2k13 in all its Goldmember-glory doesn't do it for me.

    Until they can find a way to properly balance out the sig skill system.

    the physics idk it might just be me but the physics feel like 2k12 and It really doesn't make sense at times. For example I can be in the ball handlers path and he will continue to run as if I'm not there, another example going for blocks and the defender gets knocked back but the scorer continues with his animation.

    Add- foot planting needs to be addressed on offense and defense.

    Edit: I would remove VC. I hate VC plain and simple.

            I agree with OPs list, especially improving shot blocking. It is pathetic how bad blocking is in this game. I know they did it to keep somewhat realistic block numbers, but it isn't realistic at all when you play it. Push animations especially annoy me when I time my jump perfectly only to be magically pushed out of the way.

            Also, why are dunks unblockable? It doesn't happen all the time, but it does actually happen in real life, as weird as that may sound to 2k. 2k12 had the block system pretty down-pat, except for the easy blocks you can get on obvious jump shots. However, blocking layups and dunks in past games were way more realistic than this game.

              Sig Skills (but polish and add levels of proficiency like those that exist in MyCareer)
              Jay-Z's influence in regards to music and player signings
              Shot Stick (but incorporate plans for phase 2 of implementation)

              Improve:
              Foot planting (get rid of sliding all together)
              Momentum (a bit too predictable and overpowered)
              Contact animation engine
              Overall game flow
              Graphics engine (lighting, sweat effects, skin shaders, etc)
              Player cyberfaces
              VC cost/balance (reward playing the mode you want to use VC for vs buying or gaming/exploiting some other mode, and the descrepancy between buying and earning VC shouldn't be so large)
              Blocking (blocks seemed great in the demo, not sure what's changed if anything)

              Remove:
              Jay-Z influenced presentation package

              Add:
              Real time physics engine (ala Madden 13)
              D-league, Summer League, and Combine games in MyCareer and Association.
              Post game reel and photos (unfortunate these were removed this year. They were great for reliving the game you just played).

                Keep: Dribbling Mechanics

                i was curious as to how the system would work, but i was pleasantly surprised.

                Add: A charge system similar to NFL 2k for blocking

                A system like that would implement a sense of anticipation and consistency to the vertical on block attempts.

                Improve: The sense of low lateral quickness for bigs

                Bigs can shuffle their feet too fast and that is apparent in pick and roll defense. all bigs can play tight on the p&r without risk of getting blown by. In real ball, bigs gap to keep from giving up the paint.

                Remove: The inability to save multiple slider sets

                pretty self explanatory

                  Keep: Signature Skills

                  Add: More Signature Skills,
                  Aggressive Rebounding, the highest height recorded for the NBA, so we can create players like Manute Bol accurately, a deeper and more in-depth Create A Player, Expansion team instead of replace a team, TV-like broadcast, better substitution of players when down by beatable points, a create a coach list.

                  Remove: The way you have to do "Coaching Mode". Give us the option to leave it on for all games or not.

                    • Online Association: Old League Menu or at least give the admin the ability to remove the cpu controlled teams.
                    • MyTeam Auction, trade between players and freestyle trainingmode.
                    • MyTeam Rewards- for example: when u complete certain "missions".

                      Keep: Defensive animation that guides ball-handler out of bounds.

                      Despite people complaining about it initially, it serves a purpose of punishing careless ball-handlers in the backcourt, rewards good bball IQ of keeping the ball handler away from the middle and makes ball-handlers respect both his defender in the backcourt and the sidelines.

                      Also, add in some animations that allows us to defend the receiver of an inbound pass better, so that inbounding isn't so easy especially in an end of game situation.

                      ADD: Proper scouting, online scrimmage, ability to save defensive settings, ability to use pause menu when your opponent pauses the game online, ability to practice inbound plays.

                      We no longer have the ability to scout our opponent's VIP as in 2K11 and that was a nice feature to have to scout an opponent's tendencies before a game. The tendencies that we get before an online game now are mostly useless window dressing. I'm pretty sure that a lot of it is wrong, seeing as it shows only 0% for isolation and other tendencies in the bottom right hand corner of the loading screen.

                      OA and online in general deserve more love in terms of scouting. In OA, we should have the ability to see our opponent's online tendencies for his team AND individual players, as well as his tendencies against different sorts of teams and players.

                      We should have the ability to save our defensive settings for each team so that we don't have to spend 2 to 3 minutes every game going through the mundane task of tweaking on-ball and offball D, hedging, etc. We should also be able to change these settings in-game. In addition, I don't think it should be too hard to have a coach's notebook that we can bring up at the timeout where we can looked at saved notes, because it's hard to remember all the strategies you want to implement off head.

                      PLEASE, add in the ability to use your pause menu when your opponent has paused the game. Other games have had this feature for years, there is no excuse for 2K not to have this. I don't want to be staring at a still screen for two minutes.

                      PLEASE, add in the ability to run a scrimmage in your OA. We want it to be easier for us to get used to our OA teams and figure out which plays work in certain situations, as well as getting used to freelance tendencies. If it's possible, also add the ability to run a scrimmage online with your friends, whether as a team-up or a vs game.

                      PLEASE, add in the ability to practice inbounds plays. This feature has been inexplicably missing for TWO years of the new playbook system.

                      Improve: Post defense, network errors in OA games, cutting to the rim, layups, handoff animations.

                      Despite the ability to defend the up and under in a few ways, the hands up animation needs to make actual contact when the player is going up for the fake, instead of sliding backwards; it only makes contact when a player is picking up a fumbled ball.

                      The amount of network errors that take place in OA games has made, clearing system cache, and deleting online data and OA a ritual when I turn on my 360. FIX IT. It's ridiculous and another example of wasted time for online games.

                      Cutters need to cut ALL the way to the rim and not just stop when they are passed to. It also seems that the intelligent cutting AI when there is open space that was in the demo has gone.

                      There needs to be more layup animations and the layup logic needs to be improved. There are a few too many times when the player chooses the wrong hand when going for a layup or isn't aggressive enough to make the layup.

                      For some reason, there is a handoff animation that the CPU can perform that we can't perform, this makes running pinch plays and other handoff plays rather ineffective, and please AI realise if the pass isn't there, they should just move on instead of gumming up the works.

                      Remove: Sliding, ability to see all your opponent's playbooks on OA, 5 options on plays calling, baseline and sideline forcefields.

                      As I previously mentioned, please remove the sliding in the paint, especially when doing the hands up animation.

                      Please remove the ability to see all your opponent's playbooks on OA. This is unrealistic. Instead replace this with the ability to just scout 3 to 5 plays of our opponent's playbook. Yeah, I know, most people aren't that keen enough to actually study all of his opponent's playbook, but you don't usually show your hand in poker before the final card, do you?

                      Please remove the five buttons for play calling when positionally play calling. It is unnecessarily confusing. We have a maximum of four play types per player. It just messes up plans to try and have a systematic way of calling plays. Just keep it to four, or even better, give us an OPTION of having a medium between "Run Best Play" and Manual playcalling, so with this option turned on, we could just see play types, choose a play types and have the CPU randomly call a play from that play type.

                      Lastly, completely remove baseline and sideline forcefields. It's getting there, but the game still slightly coddles the user on the sideline. At least on the higher difficulties, completely REMOVE these forcefields and bring in some animations on the sideline where a player has to maintain their balance when they are right near the line, like in NBA Live 10.

                        Keep: Signature Skills - Gives role players a significance.

                        ADD: An actual TV Broadcast licensing. Presentation is the weakness of 2K IMO, from a simulation point anyways. Improve the crowd and ADD ESPN,TNT, or whoever.

                        Remove: The urban presentation. I love Jay-Z, one of my favorite rappers. But this is a simulation game, not NBA Street. Go back to the all-around music, and please change the damn presentation, and the awful scoreboard.

                        Improve: Blocking and rebounding, and most of all


                        ASSOCIATION.

                        2014 needs to be the year for Association. Association has been neglected for far too long. Add more RPG elements to association, give players and the City/Franchise some type of connection (or roles). This plays a major part in resigning, dropping players, and drafting. Let the fans play a bigger role. They should have favorite players from drafts to on the court. Let us control financing, and make money play some type of role.

                        Give us city locations that we can start expansion teams at.

                          ability to draw charge calls for players in position, but not necessarily in "charge" stance.

                          Add: medium speed dribble moves

                          there needs to be medium speed moves. you can walk or sprint and get appropriate crossovers, but if jog you get launched into sprint speed moves which, in my opinion leads to a slight loss of control.

                          Improve: art work

                          some people dont look anything like they should and colors are often off.

                          Remove: Ps3 custom music glitch

                          customizing certain music results in losing certain sound in-game and in menus

                            Add- More owner options to Association Mode. Similar to Madden when they would allow you to move and
                            completely redesign your franchise, we'd finally be able to make use of the create-a-team feature
