    MLB 2k13 Wishlist

Probably a bit late for a wishlist, but with the news of 2K13, I figured I would start one anyways for fun. Just 2 things for me:

    1. Fix the colors. As much as I hate the Yanks, they are the flagship team of the league. It really kills the immersion when they come out in baby blues.

    2. I am probably in the minority on this, but I would like an additional option for the pace of the game. Between at-bats and innings, I love the atmosphere touches: stadium/crowd shots, stat overlays, animations etc. But once into an at-bat, I want to pick up the pace. I don't have the patience to spend alot of time between each pitch. In 2K12, the option of hurry-up baseball cut this out, but also took out all the good stuff between at-bats. Real Time had great atmosphere, but was took too long. I want something in between.

I'd like them to make playing My Player as a non-pitcher less repetitive if possible. Your character shouldn't play very inning of every game, even in the minors, and especially in the majors.

Fix the sluggish-in the sand OF running animations.

Fix the animations where there is a hitch in the throwing motion.

Fix the animations where the fielders will sometimes turn their back (or turn in a circle) before throwing.

          1) fix the uniform colors and hats. Also have the ability too mix and match uniforms and sock colors.
          2) fix the jogging too the ball in the outfield by defenders, it should be just the main player near the ball that sprints, but however is close including more than one player.
3 fix the glitch that cause players too hold the ball when someone was running around third too home.
4 Better situation awareness from players on the bags and defending the ball.
          5) Better AI management from the bullpen and have real-time catcher, pitching coach and head coach discussing on the mound.
          6) Better end-game awareness of the crowd with situations, like if the home team is ahead, and a 3-2 count, have the crowd standing and cheering loud. Also better Playoff atmosphere, especially in the wild-card like with atl-vs-stl last year.
          7) More stats overlays in-game, especially comparisons between the two teams playing in that game at that moment.
          8) More color commentary and discussions between the commentators, and maybe a in-game report with injuries...etc
          9) more variance with ball coming off the bat, hardly ever see soft-pop ups that just fly over the infield head for a base hit.

Definitely agree on this. Baseball lends itself to classic teams brilliantly. Would love to pitch as say Koufax against say Ruth.

This will probably fall under "The Little Things", but have the baserunner(s) interact with the first and third base coaches like checking for signs, congratulate the batter who just hit a homerun with a handshake etc..., lack of This has been a pet-peeve of mine for years.

Also update Create-a-Player with more realistic face and skin color options.

                Thanks!

                  Re: MLB 2k13 Wishlist

The two main changes I would like to see would be a more immersive Franchise mode, as well as a more immersive My Player mode.

What I mean by this is to make it more realistic. For example, here are some pretty simple changes that could make the My Player mode more immersive:

-The option to be DRAFTED (ie- you can either choose your team, or be drafted by a random team.) If you choose this option, you will perform in front of scouts (think drills from 2k12) and the better you do, the higher you'll be drafted.

-The ability to sign contracts. This includes contracts with your team (come on, this is REALLY basic), licensing deals, and the ability to negotiate a contract, including features such as Arbitration and Free Agency. Again, not really that difficult.

-More content: doing the same 2 things, Games and Practice, gets old quick. Mix it up a little bit. Have some optional outside events.

                  As for Franchise Mode:

-Be able to make better trades- the fact that some players are downright untouchable is stupid. Sure, the Dodgers aren't likely going to trade Matt Kemp, and them doing so with a normal deal would be unrealistic. But, if I offer 3 ace pitchers and several 85+ position players, and the Dodger still don't accept the deal, that just makes the whole thing feel...meh.

-Along the same lines, the ability to trade money in trades would be nice. If I'm trading ARod from the Yankees, no team would ever pay his entire salary. I should have the ability to trade ARod + 50% of his contract (or whatever) for a decent player. This would be a simple system- teams will offer better players on high-paid players who are decent with more money that is given.

-More Like Owner Mode: think Owner Mode in MVP 05, minus the stadium building feature. Have the ability to set ticket prices, food prices, etc.

-More Realistic Free Agency: another simple fix- teams in 2k12 hardly ever bid on free agents. In one franchise, on opening day, there were still several 90+ players left. This doesn't make any sense.

-Better Contracts: be able to sign players to more realistic deals, like deals with options, multiple years with different money values, etc.

-Variable Attendance: another really simple fix. If I'm the Astros, and it's a mid June game against the Royals, we're not going to sell 40,000 tickets. Have the attendance vary based on factors- how the team is doing, how many high profile players, etc. And most importantly- SHOW THIS IN THE ACTUAL GAME. If I'm playing as the Astros, I want to have to earn attendance. A packed house would be like a reward, not the standard.

-More realistic money: Salaries aren't side by side with real life salaries. Players like Joey Votto and Albert Pujols are making 120m over the life of their deal instead of 200+, and the team payroll/budget are wrong.

-More realistic simming: Some of the simulated stats are a joke in this game. In one of my franchises, a player won the MVP (I believe it was Will Middlebrooks) while batting .250 with 19 home runs. Also, the reliever of the year award seems to always go to a mediocre reliever- I've seen a reliever with a 4.50 ERA, a losing record, and no saves win it before. In addition, the W/L total is stupid sometimes. A team with a terrible overall rating should not win 90 games (this has happened in my Reds franchise- with the Astros) while a team with a 99 Rating should not be in last place for the division. This happens more often than it doesn't for me. Along with this, make the other manager make reasonable decisions...the pinch hitter will never come in to pitch in real life, so why does it happen in the game? Also, why do managers let their starters give up 8 runs in the first? Come on, now.

-Have another mode where you can take over a team. Like, say I wanted to buy the Milwaukee Brewers. Make it so I can rename the team (using some premade stuff so the announcers can read it), build a new stadium (like in Owner Mode), make a new logo, and move to a new city/division. This could be tied in with Franchise, or a completely different mode.

Oh, and one more thing- improve the graphics this time around for the player models. 2k12 looked almost exactly like 2k11. The stadiums and environments were nice, but the players looked like garbage.

Considering they waited until JANUARY to announce (and, presumably begin production) on the game, I'm not expecting much. I know that none of this will probably happen, and we'll more than likely just get another rehash hidden by a small feature upgrade (like the pitching in 2k12), but it's nice to dream.

                  EDIT: some more.

-The uniform colors were a joke in 2k12. How do you mess up the YANKEES uniform? Seriously! Some other team's were off too, but the Yankees were by far the worst.

-Update the commentary: The commentary in 2k11 was great. However, 2k12 seemed to mostly reuse the 2k11 commentary with just a few changes. Update it.

-Make the MLB Today Season Mode work- really, that was a joke.

-Online franchise and my player, as well as other online modes (HRD, etc.)

-Weather/Rain Delays: There needs to be more options for playable conditions (light rain, overcast, partially overcast, etc) as well as sporadic rain delays (optional-can be activated via a toggle.) The point of these rain delays, aside from cinematics, would be- a) realism and b) effects on pitchers (getting a little worn out, the longer the delay, the more their stats take a small hit.)

-Charging the mound/fighting: Although charging the mound is officially illegal in the MLB now, it still happens. A player should have the option of charging the mound after being hit with a pitch, in certain situations (ie- that player had hit a homerun the at bat before, etc.) The benches would either clear or not clear, depending on the level of resolution.

-Arguing calls/Ejections: Ejections came back after multiple hit batters in 2k12. That's good, but it can be taken further. Calls should be allowed to be argued (activated by pressing right trigger after or during the replay.) There would be an aggressiveness meter. The point of this would be that arguing a bad call would give players a short morale (skill) boost for 2-3 innings (more/less depending on how bad the call was/how aggressive it was argued.) Too aggressive of an argument, however, can lead to an ejection. The level at which you get ejected would also be variable, ie, you'll have a looser leash if the call was truly a missed call (the game knows when it messes up a call- it does it on purpose), arguing balls/strikes would lead to an extremely tight leash and not much morale boost, etc. If you do get ejected, you have no control over substitution settings (again, think MVP 05.) You can only get the skill boost if the call was actually wrong, however, and you would be limited to one argument an inning (assuming you weren't ejected.)

-Variable umpires: If there are good umpires, like Jim Joyce, calls should be blown at a lower rate than with bad umpires, like Joe West. Umpires with short leashes, like CB Bucknor, should eject managers faster than reasonable ones. Since they obviously can't put all umpires in the game, the unknown ones will just be neutral.

-Make managers have a more involved role: better manager=small stats boost, worse=small stats decrease.

I hope 2k finds a customer base that has a clue about how little time and money 2K will have put into the this game. This thread is just a giant flame war waiting to happen.

Baseball games don't sell well. The Show doesn't have numbers to justify the obvious investment Sony makes in their game. But Sony can use The show to market to gamers that might not buy a baseball game, but get sucked into the potential of the power of the PS3.

2K makes money from selling the game, period. The only reason this game exists this year is that baseball is funding a product on the shelf. Expecting anything more than current rosters, schedules and the new alignment is foolish.

I will love hearing a chorus of "I told you so," if I'm wrong. But instead we are going to get the requisite, 2K ripped us off threads from people that are ignoring the economic reality.

Best case scenario, this game ships for $20-$30 bucks. But I won't be surprised if it is $60. Maybe we will get a deal like last year where it ships with NBA 2K13.

The game is good, It could use some work. But the franchise is still dead. This is nothing more than a marketing job by MLB to keep a product on the shelves.
