    Official: Greatest Soundtrack Ever?

So i'm sitting here and reading a few threads, and i remember having this conversation with a few of the fellas in an XBOX Live Party not too long ago. What are your favorite songs/Which NBA 2k Game had the best soundtrack ever? We would go on for days about certain songs, how they made you feel while playing the game. Some folks use to fall asleep, and wake up the damn game playing these songs, so pretty much everyone has their favorites. I took the time to go back in the catalogue of this current generation to see which of the songs that make me nod my head while putting the competetion to sleep. These are My Faves....If i should miss a song that you liked in particular, let me know why you liked it.

In My Honest Opinion, this is by far the best soundtrack ever assembled in 2K's History. Not Only did they Introduce Myplayer that year, They Made the Perfect soundtrack for it as well.. I mean i've played every NBA 2K game since dreamcast, and i can't remember a time before 2k10 where i started singing the words to the song while playing...Some were ICONIC! Act like you guys never caught yourselves singing " ONE day, ONe day, One day a-AAAAAAAAAAA" or how about "R-A-D-I-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO/L-A-D-I-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".

So i've far i've been Putting My favs from each soundtrack.
There isnt one song on NBA 2K10 that didn't have my head nodding.
Thats why im gonna list the whole entire soundtrack.
    Definition of classic. PEriod.

    NBA 2K11
This In My opinion is the greatest Basketball Game ever created. I don't know of a game that pretty much PUts Jordan on their cover, and lives up to the HYPE! This soundtrack, although not as epic as NBA 2k10's is probably the second best soundtrack they've put together. I guess i PLayed and dominated crew games for so long, These songs for a period of time became the soundtrack to my online life. I'd sign on and be ready to hear Drake's "Over" or Snoop's 2k theme blaring through my tv. Again, since i pretty much played the heck out this game, i'll put all the Songs on the soundtrack, not just my faves.

    • Snoop Dogg – NBA 2K Theme
    • Big Boi – Shutterbug
    • Drake – Over
    • Cassidy – Game Time
    • Ron Artest – Champion
    • Duck-Down All-Stars feat. Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price – Better Than You
    • The Alan Parsons Project – Sirius
    • Art vs. Science – Hollywood
    • Big Rock Candy Mountain – Rocketship
    • Brunettes – Red Rollerskates
    • Chicharones – Little By Little
    • Children Collide – Skeleton Dance
    • Constellations feat. Asher Roth- We’re Here To Save The Day
    • Dan Black feat. Kid Cudi – Symphonies (Remix)
    • Delorean – Deli
    • Ev – Home Of The Brave (Instrumental)
    • Failsafe – Hope & Only If We Learn
    • HOGNI – Bow Down
    • Kidz In Space – Downtime
    • Middleman – It’s Not Over Yet
    • Rakaa feat. Aloe Blaac – Crown Of Thorns

    NBA 2K12
Didnt really care for this game to be quite honest. So my opinion on this soundtrack is less objective. Maybe some of you found this game to be great, but with the omission of MY Crew mode...it literally took the Wind out of my sail.

    1. Eminem & Royce Da 5'9" - Fast Lane
    2. Travis Barker featuring Yelawolf, Twista, Busta Rhymes and Lil Jon - Let's Go
    3. CyHi Da Prynce - Sideways (2K Remix)
    4. Kurtis Blow - Basketball
    5. Friendly Fires - Skeleton Boy
    6. Machine Drum - Let It (edIT Remix)
    7. Aceyalone featuring Cee-Lo - Workin' Man's Blues
    8. Freddie Gibbs - Look Easy (2K Original)
    9. Chiddy Bang featuring Q-Tip - Here We Go
    10. Zion I featuring Rebelution- Many Stylez
    11. Duck Down All -Stars 2 - Shout The Winners Out (2K Original)
    12. Middle Class Rut - New Low
    13. Bassnectar - Cozza Frenzy
    14. Ancient Astronauts - Still a Soldier
    15. Alex K. and D.J.I.G. - Now's My Time (2K Original)
    16. See-I - Haterz
    17. James Pants - We're Through
    18. Shinobi Ninja - Rock Hood

    NBA 2K13

Ok So this is a slight improvement from NBA 2k12, but still with the Omission of My Crew, I'm not a Big fan of this game. Be it as it may, This is by far the MOST Commercial friendly soundtrack to date. Where as 2Ksports, known for breaking unknown(to a lot of us at least) underground artist for their soundrack, this year, they sought out the talents of MUlti-platinum rapper Jay-Z to not only lend a hand in the music department, but also add a bit of his own style to the game. Don't get me wrong, there's not a song on here i don't like. There in lies the problem for me. I've heard all of these songs before, so they don't leave me nodding my head when i turn off my console. They have me never wanting to put it back on....LMFAOOO.

Its a toss up between 2k9 and 2k10. I'll take either one over the over-commercialized 2k13 soundtrack.

I miss hearing Chali2na, Aceyalone and Pharcyde when balling it up.

I hate the 2k13 soundtrack, It's horrible! I love hiphop and Jayz but not this. It's all old music which I once loved but got really tired of quick. I mute it on menus

2k8 - 3 Dilla tracks, Madlib/Quasimoto, J Rocc, Percee P, A Guy Called Gerald, Run DMC and some good funky breaks.

2K6 is right up there also with Common, Jean Grea, Little Brother, The Roots, Skillz, Aesop Rock, Aceyalone, and Hieroglyphics.

The sad part is, so do i...I mean, when i have my ipod on, i can listen to Old Jay-z and Nas all day...but when I'm playing the game, i expect to hear at most one or two tracks that i might know. 2k has spoiled me into Listening to new artists(at least to me) that i might have otherwise had never known or listened to. To me, it's just the adjustment of having 2k in my life when it was just a fledgling company trying to make its name in the basketball world. They did everything better in terms of presentation, gameplay and DEfINITELY in the soundtrack department. Now they are perennial All-stars and are in a league of their own. So now when the budget comes up, they don't need to look for underground artists anymore, the major Label artists are coming to them. Because the Major Labels know that NBA 2k is damn near a household name now....Almost as synonymous as Call of Duty, Halo, Super Mario & Zelda. They've grown up right before our eyes. Now is the time to appreciate what we have here.. Even as they are growing bigger, the Developers at 2ksports, alongside some of the Community Managers(PARED/STEVE OS/Ronnie2K/Chris Manning aka LD2k) still listen to the community and let us have a voice within the developing stages of NBA 2k every year. So whatever we ask for, they try their best to get it put in the next iteration of the game.

With that being said, if some of you dislike the direction that 2k13's soundtrack went, now's the time to voice your opinion. Email, tweet, post opinions, and let your voices be heard.

You know the crazy part of all this? I became a BIG J Dilla fan after discovering him on 2k. I never really appreciated a lot of his work until i was constantly playing 2k8. "Sparkle & flow, the Name of the game is Lightworks."

You make a good point. It's a little tough for me to word, but you're right. It's not as if 2K's money hungry or ignorant or lazy or one of those ridiculous things. It's just, with the arrival of true success, some things change. A lot of them are for the good, others, not necessarily as much so.

I remember a lot of the bad things that used to come with 2K being the underdog. The funds didn't always seem to be there, they didn't have access to a lot of the cool things they wanted to do that Live would do instead, etc. But I do miss a little bit of that grassroots feel that's not quite as apparent now with the big names push with Jay-Z and the huge Twitter and other social networks they're all over. Like you said, they're still making a great basketball product, but it's certainly an adjustment having 2K playing the role of what NBA Live was like 10 years ago in terms of presence.

Yes! 2K pennies led me to discover the cool kids! Who are now one of my favourite hip hop groups, they are so sick! Such a good song.

I generally like '13, but "Stress" automatically knocks it down a peg for me. If I never hear that "song" again I wouldn't exactly miss it. '11 and '12 both had more than a few standouts. But I actually agree w/the TS...'10 was really, really good. So many tunes I bought/downloaded off that soundtrack.
