That is a good point OP and one I think some don't understand when others "complain" about Madden. The football it plays and allows to be played, just isn't fun to some people. I would love to go online and get blown out by someone that out schemed me, not with so called stick skills or program exploits. I wouldn't have fun playing 11 v 11 NFL Blitz and that's pretty much what Madden reminds me of in online ranked.

The most disappointing thing for me in reference to online play and makes me think the devs/programmers really couldn't care less is the lack of options to disable things that are exploitable. You brought up Fair Play, I don't get why this was removed and there is not some separate online ranked lobby for this. Also why there are not toggle options to disable things like preplay defensive adjustments, limit hot routes, etc.

That kickoff thing is going around, must of been posted somewhere because I'm seeing it an awful lot lately, before it was just listed on this one guys pretty slow website but yeah.. the kickoff is pure cheese. Really high and angled towards an easy out of bounds, but lands short of going out. If you let it hit the ground it nearly always bounces back towards the kicking team, if you catch it you get hit sticked the very moment.

Counter is to do a fair catch, if they aren't wise you'll draw some flags.

As for the full coverage, sadly it's almost needed. They gave QB's even more power with the precision passing this year, and any adequate QB can throw off the coverage, so the best bet is just to clog up as many routes as you can. I usually start out with some kind of zone blitz so at least 2 guys rush, 1 is in spy, and a purple zone at each side. The rest of it is based on what he's liking to do.

Really sucks, but otherwise someone who can use the stick can put it anywhere a defender is not.

That is why I stopped playing online a long time ago. I play the game because I love football and most of the people that play online do so because they love to play video games. The strategy and sport of it means nothing to them. Fortunately, I do enjoy the offline version and that is what I stick to. I don't know what to tell. Maybe find a online CCM that is sim style or a community that doesn't allow cheesing.

The onside kicking is the worst, but these guys will be mad and complaining when EA only allowes it once per qtr or something like that just like they killed the strip ball.

When they do complain, I will be there to throw it in their faces and truly see how desperate they play to win then. EA needs to crackdown on these clowns like they're doing in real life sports with PEDs.

People are getting tired of the cheaters!

have you tried some sim leagues?? i wont play lobby games anymore it feels so different when you are playing with guys who dont cheese. its pretty fun i gotta say. im in 1 lg right now that advances every tue and sat mornings but i know there are others on this board that run their lgs in a sim fashion but move the season along faster.

Tried them and have had some success, the only problem I have had is the issue with playing games daily. I love football, and I enjoy the competition but not the type that wins at all costs and plays to the exploits of the game.

Most of the SIM leagues dont last very long, especially this year for some reason. I also love to have my team (49ers) as I dont feel comfortable playing with anyother team!

I am all for sim leagues to make the best of this bad football game but that doesn't change what's wrong with the core game. Even in sim leagues the player movement, injury system, CCM, etc are still as flawed as when you play online ranked or offline. Believe me I have looked for any way possible for me just to tolerate this game, even practically begged for a true coach mode, but I just couldn't find one.

I'm guilty of dropping linemen back into coverage and blitzing just 2-3 linemen, but only because it reached the point of being a necessity. There are certain routes that are more or less unstoppable if you don't do that and, as I'm sure we all know, people will run those routes and nothing else until you stop it.

I've seen the kickoff thing, but I usually just call a fair catch and haven't had any problems with it. It's a lot better than that short kick you used to be able to do that functioned like an onside kick.

Online is just a horrible experience anymore.

yeaa well the 49ers are goin to be a tough team to find unless you make your own lg lol. we got some openings in our lg if you are interested just pm me. we sim every 3 days. as for game play you are going to complain forever and ever. face it the game will never be perfect and never will be good enough for you. stop bitching and learn how to play it.

Its not about Bitching, its principles and if you cant take losses and move on from them, then you should not play competitively at all in a SIM environment.

There's a point to where you can chaulk it off as "ok it wasnt intentional, he knows the rules", to where it happens again that he knows good and damn well what he was doing.

Thanks for the off tho bro, if my team opens up ill take it, other than that im gonna have to pass bro, I need a break anyway!

Try playing unranked games, you can pick your opponents more carefully and get better games. I was having the same issue as you, I am 105-58 and since I got to around 850 points, all I run into now is guys running the same couple of plays all game, no running, onside kicks, etc. I dont blame them, but the wins and losses mean more to them than me, I just want to play a good game.
