Ok,I'm sure this has been touched on some where in here, but is there any fighting in this years(NHL 13) game? In previous years I could scuffle with a player.. hit "Y" and the fight is on ... sometimes too many fights were in the game in my opinion. but in this years version of the game ,I can't start a fight to save my life. I'm in Gm mode .. 40 games into the season, not one single fight. I've played around with the slider ...nothing. Am I missing something , or is fighting just simply missing from this years game?

Fights are few.....you have to initiate all of them.
Very rarely if you shot at the goal tender after the whistle the AI will push you but that is all.
It is rediculous that you can bump their goalie in play and rarely get a penealty, but never get engaged by the AI after the play to fight. In 13 they did. Also the after they or you hit the goalie, mostly the scene ends to quickley to start the fight.
You have to hit Y after the whistle and keep on hitting Y till the gloves drop. (they may not drop). The players will start jostling each other but you have to keep hitting Y to get the fight.
EA will hopefully fix this in 14 where the other team may engage you and by pressing Y will start a fight. but right now it is not there. It would also be nice for a fight to start sometimes in the middle of play,Last edited by jack72; 02-03-2013, 09:20 AM. -

Yeah, something they managed to screw up after NHL 10, which had this just fine. Why does EA feel compelled to break something when trying to fix other things?Comment

Tug player and punch and punch and punch.
I couldn't seem to find a blocking button, but I tend to win fights by tugging the player toward me/down and then just keep punching with the right stick...mixing punches (RS forward) with big punches (RS back then forward).
Also might help to look at your player ratings and try to choose players with high fighting skill to fight with...Comment

A sure way to get fights is to press triangle/Y before/during the face off.
You'll see your winger man start slashing opponent outside the face off circle, and most times it's a fight once the puck drops (this is new in NHL13)
But is depends alot of who's on the ice and whats teh status of the match.
So you can't trick the CPU to get a star player involved in a fight (5 minute penalty) as easy as getting one of their 3rd - 4th liners into trouble.

I wish instigating fights after the whistle was easier. I like how they added the commentary about the goalie getting ice in his face, but what good is it if I can't beat the crap out of the guy who sprayed him!
Also, was it EA of 2K that had an NHL game a few years back where you could target players to be aggressive against? You could highlight a player on the opposing team and players on your team would go out of their way to hit them. It was pretty cool and added a neat risk/reward.Comment

I turned the slider down all the way. I've won only 1 fight of about 10 still.
I have success at the faceoff too. Best way to get in fights.
I wish it was easier too. Would be cool if your actions on the ice made fights more likely such as hurting the other teams star or just hitting him a few times. Also if you hit the goalie or sprayed him a fight should be more likely.
