That looked like he tried the hit stick and it "failed". The game didn't have an anitmation for a broken tackle like that so it just had him open is arms as if he was trying to tackle and lost his balance.

Gotta love prior to the pass DB on the right and two LB's stand still nearly 6 full seconds.

I'm not very surprise about this. It seems just everything in Madden keeps going wrong. EA never seems to want to fix these bad animations that is in the game. I'm really hoping this kinda stuff ain't going to show up in the next gen madden. But for this current gen Madden. It will never get no better.

I am one to criticize Madden 13 a lot but I can tell you this was not a bad animation problem. The person controlling RG3 turned and ran the same direction as the ball carrier before the ball carrier even reached him.. what did you expect RG3 to do... make a behind the back no-look tackle? Who do you think he is? Ben Roethlisberger?

To compound on the "user error" argument, the whole run-back mess could have been avoided had the user decided that throwing against a defense dropping ten defenders into coverage isn't the world's best idea, particularly when playing with the lead and well within field goal range. Given the pass playcall, a tuck-and-run with RGIII wouldn't have been the worst idea in the world, particularly with only three yards to go, despite the two QB spies (the two DL that take short drops are obviously spying the QB, and they don't move laterally because the user doesn't ever break the pocket or even move around within the pocket). Just hang onto the ball and take the three points at minimum.

The blown pursuit by RGIII after the pick is solely on the user. He's got to at minimum use the sideline to cut off Whitner but he overruns the play. He then tries to use the strafe command to get himself back into position, but to no avail, he already blew the play.

LOL @ that video and I disagree with posters stating this isn't a tackling animation issue. I will not go into detail about the other blatant issues in that video, player movement and the User controlled DB being able to speed burst, ball hawk or both for the INT but focus on the tackling.

In no real world scenario would RG3 be running side-to-side in front of the ball carrier, as if escorting them to the endzone. There should be more transitional tackle animations to account for what that User was clearly attempting to do in that situation.

I am all about maximum User control and not trapping a User in unwanted animations or warping into spots but the moment they press the tackle button, there needs to be a sensible and applicable tackle attempt triggered. Specifically at the 17 sec mark when RG3 steps out of bounds and swerves back in attempting to make a tackle from the side, that should have at least triggered an animation where RG3 grabbed the ball carriers jersey, shoulder pads, horse collar or some form of reasonable tackle attempt contact animation. Instead, RG3 just grabs at air, like a missed bear hug and swerves right in front of the ball carrier.

This video is a good example of what I am referring to about the "reach tackle" animation that needs to be in Madden. Watch how the defender reaches for the ball carrier opposed to running in front of them like in Madden.
