    Franchise Player Ratings Decline

Started a co-op franchise with the Yankees and the player ratings look pretty normal. If you sim spring training, a ton of players lose about 15-20 overall points on their rating.

Is this because we are the Yankees and they're old or does it happen with every team??

This shouldn't and doesn't happen to every team. I've run some sims of my own to see Progression trends and such...this doesn't happen with me. I have 0 idea why it's happening to you

Huh...is there any thing you guys have in common? What roster set did you use, have you tried starting a new franchise, did you just end spring training or sim through it?

            Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline

I've tried it with a few different franchises and it happens every time. Uehara dropped all the way down to a 68, Ortiz is at 77, and David Ross is at 67.

I'm all for rapid decreases especially when the player is in their late 30's, but these are dramatic drops that occur after you finish spring training. Hopefully it's something that can be fixed.

edit: I'm using the default roster set.

This could be a big problem.

                Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline

I'm using the live update roster. We did both end spring training as well as sim a week or two at a time with the same results.

Any old player has a HUGE drop. We checked other rosters within the franchise and the same thing happened to their old guys (Ortiz, Dickey, Ibanez, etc.)

Younger players get better quickly depending on potential.

We have done this a few times with the same exact results.

I'd hold off on saying its a problem until we can say everyone is having the same problem. I read that poster you quoted as saying that older players dropped in the offseason progression and younger players got better faster, which makes sense and is fairly realistic in terms of the regression/progression scale goes.

As for the other people, I'm curious about this issue. Could you guys give more info about the settings you've used, the roster you used, if you've downloaded the patch, what you did with spring training (did you just click the "end spring training button" or simulated through all of it? Anything to help isolate this issue, cuz if it is around...that would be a franchise killer for me watching older players tank after ST.

EDIT: Huh...anybody want to chime in with thoughts? I'm stumped

I noticed Soriano dropped like 15 points for the Cubs. Shawn Camp too. The old guys are going to fade out fast.

It's not an issue it's by design all part of the new player progression and regression logic.

                        Live roster with downloaded patch
All franchise settings on Manual except 40 man roster
                        Played on Veteran
No slider adjustments except pitch speed up
                        Only controlling Yankees
CPU Roster control on for trades and injuries

Have tried END Spring Training as well as game by game with same results

                          Re: Franchise Player Ratings Decline

I haven't downloaded the patch, using the default rosters.

Didn't play any games in spring training, but I manually simmed (didn't just click "Sim Spring Training") so I could monitor stats.

Now skimming through the other teams rosters, there are some major drop offs. Jeter dropped 20 points, as well as A-Rod.

Anyone gone past the first season to see if this happens? It'd be a real bummer if this happens every season.

In Spring Training year 1 though? A lot of the guys here are saying that players are dropping a bunch of ratings in the first season of a franchise after finishing Spring Training. Is that part of the regression/progression system as well?

Its not a bug it is done intentionally and not ALL older players will see such a drastic drop. The players you are seeing take dives are guys 37 plus. Typically they hit the wall in real life as well. I'm in year 2 Halladay is still an 85. I think its a great feature of the game. Be careful of those long term deals after 34-35 they aren't going to be the same player...
