A good game ruined by rubberband AI.

No lead is safe in this game. Three games in a row I've gone to the ninth inning with a one run, two run, and then a three run lead. I've lost all three. Absolutely ridiculous and obvious.

EDIT: Decided to sign Brian Wilson, and he got me a quick 1-2-3 save. HEY, TIGERS. SIGN HIM UP.
EDIT2: If anyone else has experienced similar instances, share.

I know not every game will end in a save, but... that's excessive. Made me shed a tear.

i understand, but it is usually user error as opposed to rubberband ai. i know.

i played 2k11 and 12 and each time i had to get a closer i could use. in fact, i had to send my set up man down to the minors and he was rated over 80 but i could not use him right.

once i found the right guys i stopped losing leads. i still lost the occasional but i mostly got the hold and save.

Yes, these are professionals that will fight to win. It's not rubber band AI. Buckle down, use strategies, and focus!

This is a simulation, not an arcade home run game

I always thought of 2k games as being among the best regarding NO rubberband ai.

I agree. I've always found 2k games to be solid in that respect. I was controller throwing mad watching my 3 goal lead in NHL 13 disappear in 40 seconds on 3 slap shots from the blue line...arghhhhh.

I will say that the computer get really streaky. I've had games, in 2k12 mind you, that they have strung 7, 8 hits in a row no matter where I throw the ball. And it could be in the 2nd inning vs my starter so I gotta battle through it.

Makes it tough when they get streaky vs your closer. Been there. I always wished their was a 3rd trip to the mound option which would make for some tough decisions. Stamina, Composure and Slow Momentum.

Would you leave your pitcher rattled to kill momentum?

The rubberband AI has nothing to do with your lost games. Unless there were some blatant glitches, then it is always user error.

With that said, I think it goes without saying that no lead is every safe anyways, especially online against human opponents. But if you are struggling against the computer, using a closer with good composure (like you did when signing Wilson) will help a lot. Who were the closers you used in the three games you lost?

I don't recall seeing this in 2K12. I was able to finish teams off without much of a problem.
Hopefully it's the same in 2K13.

I've noticed a bit rubberbanding from the other game so far. I've only gotten 3 games in, and it's most likely just me, but in all 3 games, I was up by 2, 3 and 2 runs going into the 8th inning. By the 9th, the score was tied, or they were ahead.

Shogun, I've definitely experienced that with the EA NHL series as well.
I've never had that problem with any 2K product yet.

I've never felt like that with any 2K baseball game.

That brings me to THREE instances.

There were two times in the 9 games in my Tiger franchise I've played where there was a ground ball to Peralta, and it WOULD NOT LET ME throw it to first base. The meter would not show up. Run scored.

There was a time where there was a guy on second and a dude hit a single. It wasn't a deep hit, and I tried throwing home. Hunter fake threw the ball home. Uhm? The guy was JUST rounding third base, but he didn't let go of the ball. Run scored.

THIS happened twice -- a fly ball at Comerica Park was crushed to the warning track at Castellanos (I made him). Castellanos turns his back to the diamond and looks up like he's expecting it to go over the wall or hit it -- nope. It plops down in front of him. One time it resulted in an inside the parker, and the other was a base clearing triple.

User error? I think not. As for the blown saves, I don't know how it isn't at all rubberband related. I throw the ball the same way as the rest of the game. I generally get the first pitch strike, and at least half the time get guys 0-2. Regardless, they'll get a string of 5+ hits, and I'll lose the game.

Beat the D-backs 10-5 with St Louis in my first game. No rubberband AI here.

                        Hmmm...that is interesting.

I have not experienced those issues...yet, but if I do, I will make sure to let people know.

Anyways, watever you or I want to call it (rubberbanding or glitching), it seems like those are definite glitches. In MLB2k12, in my first few games with the Royals franchise, I lost a string of games in the bottom of the 9th due to errors. These errors looked like glitches, but it seems like they are just bad 'clutch' mechanics by the devs. After my first few weeks of the season, and as my players ratings got better, they hardly made errors like those. I think there is some consistency trait that we don't know about which effects the players.

I have played 2 full games and i have not seen this yet. The first game i was

the Yanks and went 12 innings against the Braves and won on a walk off

homer by Cano. The 2nd game i was the Tigers against the Angels i was losing

2 zip through 8 then i scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th and won 4-2 both

game were alot of fun and the AI seemed fine to me, however last years

game i felt that the AI late in the game would always seem to make a run

no matter what, now i have only played 2 games so far so hopefully i dont

see this to much but so far so good

It just happened again. I was losing 1-0 until the 6th inning. Being no hit. I hit a two run home run, then added on to make it 3-1.

Bottom of the ninth. Two outs. Brian Wilson pitching. Two hits, and a three run homerun by a guy with 51c/57p ... I lose. That's 6 blown saves total in 12 games.

Gonna tell me that's not rubberband?

I've only had the opposite happen. It'll be close/tied then it starts rolling down hill. Walk, hit, next thing you know HR and the lead goes up by 3. 14 pitch at bat after hardly any hits then 5 runs in the next inning.
