Interesting idea to spend State Farm's money

So whilst trying out the online simultaneous home-run derby just now (love this, actually), I had an idea when they talked about the gold ball being tossed for the final out.

In real life, State Farm donates something like $18,000 to charity for every gold ball hit during the real Home Run Derby. Wouldn't it be cool if they allowed us gamers to contribute to this as well?

Maybe make it something like 1 penny for every gold ball HR hit in the HR derby during this major league season. Or if the want to shorten the lifespan of it, maybe say $1 or 50 cents or something for every gold ball HR hit during the real life all-star break. Obviously they would have to work with SCEA to figure the economics and statistic analysis about tracking how many online HR are hit during a time frame to figure out how much to award to each HR, but I thought it would not only be a cool way for State Farm to donate, but for gamers to feel NOT ONLY closer to realism in this game, but to make us feel warm for being able to contribute to a good cause.

I, for one, would DEFINITELY be playing more Home Run Derby if I was able to help donate someone else's money!

LOL sure, I'm all for charity. And that is a really cool idea, IMO.

One thing to note, State Farm is no longer a sponsor in either of the baseball games. That's why there are no SF ads anywhere... it is one of the missing things I stated no one had commented on from the early media.

So, maybe you can convince SCEA to spend some of their money.

Oh really, I didn't even notice. Well damn, maybe get Farmers, or Century 21 or All-State or something! That's a shame, would have been cool to incorporate.

This is a GREAT idea, JoeCool! I would make it a point to play more HRD if there was a charity involved! Would make a cool extra incentive with the Gold Ball too...

SCEA folks listening: This would be a great marketing opportunity/community exposure mid-season if you even just wanted to launch this charity campaign during All-Star Break week! Might give a boost in selling units 4 months in after folks hear about this kind of promo...and most of all, it's for a good cause (whatever charity you decided to back)!!!
