Balls Hitting Pitchers
Is is just me or is then an unusual high number of linedrives hitting the pitcher? In my exhibition game between the Mets and Braves I've already counted 5 such occurances through just 4 innings. It's so frustrating to think you have a base hit but the ball hits the pitcher and you make an out!

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
This was an issue in last year's game too. The computer often does it too. It's frustrating when you square up a ball and it just goes back at the pitcher. I don't know why it happens, but it does seem to happen often. -

It happens alot. This season its actually lower for me so far for what thats worth. Is is just me or is then an unusual high number of linedrives hitting the pitcher? Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
And.......
1.Pitcher NEVER get injured even if they get a ball right in the face
2.If it happens to the user, its hard to control a fielder who can get to the ball and throw for an out, but if it happens to CPU, it's like the ball just bounces off the pitcher and right to the CPU fielder who throws for an outComment

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
What's especially frustrating is that when the CPU hitter hits my pitcher it usually results in the runner being safe at first. But if I hit the CPU pitcher then they usually throw me out no problem.Comment

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
Yeah, it happens way to often, like the pitcher has an invisible wall through his body and anything hit his direction will go off his body, often just bouncing right in front of him.
And yeah, the fact that they NEVER get injured is insane. They may show a canned animation of the player walking around the mound and the announcers saying "Oh man, I hope he is okay", but he always is.Comment

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
San Diego Studios confirmed that pitchers never get injured based on getting hit by a come backer. The cut scene is just a cut scene, for presentation purposes.Yeah, it happens way to often, like the pitcher has an invisible wall through his body and anything hit his direction will go off his body, often just bouncing right in front of him.

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
That's the problem. They have recovered and thrown me out every time I've hit the pitcher.Comment

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
What? That doesn't make sense. There are injury rolls on every other play in the game (I've seen a guy get hurt just getting to the next base).
Why can't they have it roll with higher probability when a pitcher gets drilled?#24Comment

Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
Because IIRC pitchers would be leaving the game left and right. Which is NOT realistic. Like I said I don't think there is a way for them to make the game distinguish whether the injury would be serious enough for the pitcher to leave the game or stay. That's just my guess. Injuries are random aren't they?Comment

My suggestion last year was to have it affect their abilities in-game then (give them a hit to stamina, control, or clutch or something if they get hit).Because IIRC pitchers would be leaving the game left and right. Re: Balls Hitting Pitchers
This is not true. This year, I had Brandon McCarthy (hit again, ugh) go down after getting hit in the head and I had to replace him with a new pitcher. He ended up being hurt for a few days. It wasn't a line drive, but a little chopper which he finished the play, but the cutscene had him laying on his back in obvious pain.Comment
