MLB 13 The Show - Jumbotron, LED Ribbons and Boards Feedback/Inaccuracies/Inquiries

Hi OSers,

Now that the latest version of the game is in our hands, Greg over at SCEA has asked me to start up a thread in order to get a jumpstart on further building their database of Jumbotron, LED ribbons and boards layouts & animations. The information obtained will be used in the development of the next versions of the game. Again, this thread is intended for only animations and graphical layouts of stadium Jumbotrons, LED ribbons and boards. Other stadium feedback will be covered in separate threads, at a later date. As par for these types of threads, images and/or videos are most beneficial, especially for video board animations.

Although it is still only Spring Training, you may have noticed some things in your home stadium displays, in-game that may not match what the real-life layout was in 2012. Feel free to post any inaccuracies from the 2012 season, and once the 2013 season starts, update the post if something changes for the new season.

At Comerica Park when the Tigers are batting when you go to the replay and look at the scoreboard on the left side, the away team is listed above the Tigers lineup. Ive also noticed that on the right side of the scoreboard the stats for the game are off for some players.

I know I dont have picutes so its hard to picture but for example, Torii Hunter was batting and in the 1st inning he popped out to 3rd and his next time up in the 3rd it had 0-1 listed about 4 times like this:

1st: 0-1 popout to 3rd
1st: 0-1 popout to 3rd
1st: 0-1 popout to 3rd
1st: 0-1 popout to 3rd


But when the away team is batting, everything is correct the away team is above their line up and all stats are correct.

It's just a little annoying that for such a great game, to have the new edition to Comerica Park not be correct this year.

They have the Padres board nearly 100% perfect. If they have the time to make the small changes, here they are:

In real life, the teams names in the top left and top right should be all caps. Also, the middle section of the scoreboard should be split into an upper and lower half. The upper always shows the players stats (updated during the game), and the lower has what they did each at bat. On top shows the real scoreboard, and then below a screenshot from MLB 13 the show.

Lastly, very small, but the time in the bottom left should have PM or AM next to it

The irony is that they are thinking of getting a newscoreboard in a year or two so who knows if this will even exist for 2014.

I posted this over at the show nation (the official stadium feedback thread) waaay back in July, I guess they didn't get to it...

All of our scoreboards and displays except for the jumbotron are LED displays:

All of the ribbon displays have been LED displays since 2011 and are similar to the out of town score board (which was installed at the same time, not sure why it was the only one updated). The top two pics are a little dark so its hard to tell the tint of green, but its much easier to see in the third pic.

The ones in the game are still the old light up displays, all of the text info is correct except for the one in right field (reference the first pic).

Now that the season has started, the new jumbotron displays the lineups like this:



Its nearly identical to what the Rangers do, except we still have ads on the sides that are digital.

Comerica Park - New scoreboard mistakenly shows the visitor team name over the Tiger lineup when Detroit is batting. I highlighted the error on the attached picture. Sorry, I did not remember to check to see if it is correct when the visiting team is batting. I will try to check and edit my post if it is also in error.

Thank you for posting this as well, it irritates me that this scoreboard is wrong. As for the other team it is correct, it's just when the tigers are batting it's wrong

I saw this at Comerica too. I'm sure it's irrelevent, but I was controlling The Tigers, and for what it's worth, it was also with Torii Hunter.

Perhaps related, I noticed the same issue happened when the Dodgers were playing in Texas. Ramirez had only batted twice and that scoreboard had also double-counted his first at bat on the scoreboard display. See picture 2.

Occured on my RTTS player at SafeCo Field once (Mariners) but for my 2nd AB result (showed my 1st then my 2nd twice).

Edit: Occured again on my RTTSer, this time at Fenway. 1st AB (single in 2nd) shown twice.

First of all I want to just say how impressed I am with how the scoreboards are now. I'm amazed at how accurate and how much functionality they already have. Some of these real scoreboards have a lot of complex info displayed on them and I think the game does a good job realistically portraying that.

Things to note:

• The "Due Up" section is missing the AVG, HR and RBI stats.
• The first time through the lineup, the player's bio info (height, weight, handedness, birthday and birth place) are shown.
• Remove where the type of pitch thrown is shown and replace with the current pitcher.
• The result of the previous play is shown in the blank area just below the lineup.







Things to note:

• Currently the LCD boards above the bullpens scroll the "THE LEGACY CONTINUES" animation (ugh). In real life, they show the current pitcher info. In the first inning, it shows the pitch count (Balls/Strikes/Total) and the pitcher's season stats. After the first inning, it shows the pitch count along with the current game stats.





After the Royals win. Currently the game shows what would have been the next batter for the opposing team, which is weird because he never got the chance to bat. It would be cool to have a Royals Win! animation similar to this one, and even cooler if you could replicate the game summary boards on the outfield wall LCDs.

(And even cooler if you could get those beautiful fountains working! Next-gen, hopefully...)

Also, as a general observation, is there any way to make the scoreboards brighter and "pop" more? In the game, the boards look flat and don't have that bright, backlit effect to them. Hope that makes sense.

Things to note:

• Full names are used for the entire lineup. Right now, only the pitcher has his full name in the game.
• City and team nickname are used at the top of the lineups, not just team nickname.
• Maybe someone who goes to more Orioles games than me can chime in, but I thought both teams' lineups were shown the entire game, with no pitching info like there is in the in-game screenshot.
• In the lower board with the individual player details, it gives their game performance summary (1-for-3, single, 2 groundouts, run).
