I have been working on an NHL 13 roster editor. It will allow you to edit un-encrypted roster files and (eventually) dynasty files.

I've figured out the format of the DB file and I can read and write to the file with no problems. Thanks to Suchy for a wee bit of help with CRC32

Basically, attached is an early screen of what I'm working on.

Obviously, there are still a lot of options to add. But IMO the best thing, is you will be able to edit contracts and some other things that in-game you cannot do.

There is no timeframe as to when I'll be finished, just something I'm working on in my spare time.

Dougie, from what I have heard an nhl 13 editor was released last year. My brother has the 360. I'll ask him where he got it from.

Basically, there are just two things holding this up. 1: There is a CRC32 checksum near the header of the SYS-DATA file @ ( 0x0a ) which I have yet been able to figure out how it is generated. 2. Figuring out the table fields. I don't have a CFW PS3 so I can't memory dump the db. The table field names in SYS-DATA seem to be relative offsets to string values in some other internal game file. Figuring out game fields at this point is trial and error. Figuring out the crc is more involved. I'm looking at the decrypted eboot as well as unpacking .BIG files to see if I can come up with something.

So is that early screen you attached the worst case scenario in terms of editing? Being limited to editing contracts, birth year, draft year?

EDIT: I hope there's a way we can edit the heads of the players who do not have their real face in the game. I'm tired of seeing things like players with the wrong color hair, too much of the same head (the one with the dark beard and the wide eyes comes to mind), players with the wrong skin color, etc.

Yeah, that would be a very welcome edit. I trade guys in my dynasty just because they look wrong or if I already have that face. Ridiculous. They put in 100 or so new heads for your created players, but they don't let you use them to edit existing players... and they mostly look wrong or ridiculous.

This. Really ticks me off. And its pure laziness on EA's part. Default face,default face1. How much lazier can you get than that??

You can change player heads. @review- There no "limitations". The hold up now is figuring out how the crc near the header of the roster file is generated. Once that is done, this thing will be finished in no time.
