Is there any reason to take a high salary? I ask because it doesn't seem to have any advantage. Would my team spend more money on better players if I take a discount?

Outside of your own personal satisfaction, there is no benefit from taking a high salary.

You're assuming the CPU is going to make smart decisions with their money. They almost never do lol.

I did this last year where I was tired of getting a lot of money thrown at me in my prime only to see the rest of the team age and fall apart after 1 season, so I took a small contract.

Every time the team just overpaid aging players anyway

This is true, but playing for the league minimum can't hurt so why not? I'm sure it will make no difference, but it's worth trying.
