Craig Kimbrel
What should I do for Kimbrel's third pitch in his repertoire? I'm pretty sure having his two seamer with zero velocity is a mistake but at the same time I don't even know if he throws a two seamer. I'm pretty sure Kimbrel has a four seamer, slider, and a curveball in his repertoire.Last edited by JayD; 03-31-2013, 11:38 AM.Tags: None -
Re: Craig Kimbrel
Interesting... I just checked fan graphs and it says 4-seam/Slider/2-seam (with average speed of 97.2mph)Comment

Re: Craig Kimbrel
I could be misinterpreting the info (which is a very strong possibility) but under the "Pitch Type" section it says in 2010 & 11 he threw a 4 seamer and a slider and in 2012 he threw a 4 seamer and a curveball.Comment

Re: Craig Kimbrel
Odd. I see what you are referring to, I was looking at the Pitch f/x Pitch Type.
Under the Pitch Type that you were looking at, it has a 4-seam and Curve but no Slider for 2012 and I'm 100% sure he threw a slider last year.
I don't ever recall seeing him throw a Curveball but I can't say I have watched a ton of Braves games, I would put my money on the 2-seamer.Comment

Re: Craig Kimbrel
I guess you can see how SCEA has a problem with this.
Even sites dedicated to providing this info give conflicting and sometimes vague(they've gotten better in giving breakdowns of FB's....it used to just say FB for everything(2S/4S/Cutter) reports.

Re: Craig Kimbrel
So what do you plan on doing? Just upping the velocity on the 2 seamer? Not around my PS at the moment but with the way pitch velocity is this year would increasing his 2 seam velocity increase the velocity on his 4 seamer and slider as well?Odd. Re: Craig Kimbrel
I'm happy SCEA decided to work with MLB.com and use their Gameday Pitch f/x stats. I know that's not the most popular thing around these forums, but I've always thought their data was very accurate. MLB 13 has been very impressive concerning the pitch repertoires and a much needed improvement from years past.Comment

Re: Craig Kimbrel
Yes, I plan on increasing the 2-seam velocity and I'm not entirely sure how that affects the other pitches which I will look into.Comment

Re: Craig Kimbrel
You think it's bad to pitch with, it's really almost impossible to hit that "junk ball" 2 Seamer they gave him lol.

Re: Craig Kimbrel
According to wikipedia & brooksbaseball.net. Kimbrel does not throw a 2SFB. I added a the curveball as his third pitch. Also he does possesses one the game's most dominating sliders. I might just go with his pitching repertoire I used in 12".What should I do for Kimbrel's third pitch in his repertoire? Re: Craig Kimbrel
Gameday Pitch f/x a couples years ago was even better they would give the degrees of tilt of the pitch but have taken it out now. But even with the degrees of tilt displayed it was still impossible to tell the difference between 4-Seam and 2-Seam. I guess now the only way to tell the difference is by inches of break but this isn’t absolute either.Comment

Cutter, Splitter, Sinker, Slider, Curveball, Changeup, Knuckleball, Knuckle-Curve, Forkball, Screwball, Eephus
The only thing it doesn't do is distinguish whether a changeup is a circle-change or straight change, slider / slurve, curveball / 12-6 curve / sweeping curve.
So you don't really need to go by inches of break to determine a pitch.Comment

Re: Craig Kimbrel
Kimbrel throws a combination slider/curveball. I think he calls it a curveball but it looks a lot like a slider so on most sites it's listed as a slider.
Here is a blog post that was written last year about it.
