Franchise: Do you play the AA & AAA games?

I am waiting for Knights Rosters to drop and started to wonder about the Minors. Does anyone really play their AA & AAA games?

This is only my 2nd season playing with these rosters and I haven't played the minor league games in the past, but if there is a certain benefit to playing them I may try.

If you do, what is your strategy? I mean, that is a ton of games!

I only play Triple-A Pawtucket for the minor league games. Being from RI its easy to follow the Pawsox. I work 2 part time jobs so even if I wanted to play the Double-A Portland games it'd be really tough. I just focus on the Red Sox and my hometown Pawsox.

Plus I put my created self on the Pawsox. It's closer to home.

I play a two player Franchise with my brother, so when he is unavailable to play his games I will play my Syracuse and Harrisburg games. I don't do it for any other reasons though.

hmm, wow that takes a lot of dedication. To play 2 seasons basically in one.

I usually only ever play minor league games if I've got a young starting pitching prospect coming up, and I'm thinking about calling him up. I like to go pitch a game or two with him to see how he "feels" to me.

Occasionally, once I get a little further into franchise mode, I hit a point where my minors are stocked with my hand-picked draft picks. Sometimes, when I think I've got a really strong bunch of them assembled, I might go play a couple games just to check out the up-and-comers who I'm hoping will one day make up the core of my future team.

Depending on how much I like the kids on my minor league teams, I might also take control of them when it comes playoff time (if they made the playoffs). There's something fun about trying to win a championship with a team that, 5 years down the line, might be the same bunch of guys you're trying to win a World Series with.

I just play some "key" games...maybe pick a AAA/AA stud SP and play his starts.

I've played them when I'm about to call someone up to the big leagues. I've had issues in the past where I call a prospect up without experience playing with them and have gotten shelled

I've tried to several times, but every time I fire up a minor league game, my PS3 freezes.

I was just thinking about whether to try playing ALL the games, whether it makes a difference in development. But it's a heck of a lot of games.

I like the concept of getting to know them better, but how do you get through several seasons when playing not only the MLB team but the AAA club?

Do you only play your studs actions? and fast forward to his next action or bat?

I think it is a great concept, especially if you take the time to build it right. But the time commitment is crazy.

If I have a SP prospect I may play, but I'll usually just pitch with him and FF batting.

Playing a minor league game every once in a while to mix things up is always fun, especially with the full minors rosters and getting to use some top prospects.
Also, I always play the Futures Game / All-Star Game and if my teams make the playoffs I'll play then as well.

Last year I only made it through 3 full 162 game seasons, so you don't always get a chance to call up everyone (when not simming) so playing minor league games at least gives you the chance to use those players.

I, like a lot of you, play minor league games when I'm thinking about calling a certain guy up, or even if I sign a FA, and let him get a few AB's or innings in the minors before I bring him up! It can be fun, but it can also be frustrating! It's certainly a change of pace from the normal MLB games!

I only play the AA and AAA postseason games if my teams make it. Also considering the All-star and Futures games too.
