NCAA Football 14 Getting Infinity Engine 2.0, Force Impact System

NCAA Football 14 will see the introduction of the Infinity Engine, EA football's real time physics engine as well as a new feature called the 'Force Impact System'. The infinity engine will be ported over from Madden and improved somewhat over the Madden NFL 13 version, giving NCAA it's first taste of real time physics in the series' history.

The Force Impact System seems meaningful as well, with new physics introduced to the running game which accounts for weight, speed, and more when changing direction. This should eliminate the 'swerve' running within the game, as it requires players to decelerate when making sharp turns. There will be improved stiff arms and line play with the new physics, and improved blocking AI which I was told was completely overhauled. NCAA 14 also will feature a new speed burst which will trigger automatically when you get into the open field.

I will have more on all of these features as I polish up an article from a recent interview I did with EJ Manual, former Florida State QB. Expect that to hit by early afternoon!

      Great news! Thanks Chris.

Hop on the NCAA Football 14 Hype Train everyone!! You know I am. Hahahaha! Gets me every single year.

Very interested to hear more about the line play. I just hope the safeties have some awareness on seam routes and can plant their feet like a ball carrier.

SOMEWHAT refined Madden 13 infinity engine...hmmm

Hopefully this force and impact system works like it reads. If it looks real, it probably is.

Haven't we known that NCAA was getting the Infinity Engine since like February last year?

This is great news. The infinity engine has to be the standard going forward.

WOW things I actually wanted fixed were worked on. Heres to hoping it was done right. Hopefully footplanting isnt only for RBs though.
It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.

It does say for ball carriers, I'm assuming that includes WR's, TE's, defensive turn-overs, etc....

I just hope the players aren't all loose and spastic looking like in Madden 13. Due to that it was probably the least realistic looking Madden game this gen.

I did like that warping was really toned down though.

I'm very skeptical but I will say this. At least they seem to be focussing on the right gameplay issues. I mean they can't make them worse.

Was the madden infinity engine as good as advertised? No. I know I wasn't the only one disappointed.

I am hoping that the emphasis on the "running" game is just a way for marketing to tout a much needed player movement fix for all players at all times, which I could understand. We will see when some video drops but at least we know that those teaser pics weren't EA Tiburon trying to poke bears with a stick, they actually worked on core areas, which is good to read.

I like the sound of "a new speed burst which will trigger automatically when you get into the open field", because I just posted the other day the speed burst needs to be mapped onto the stick, to prevent the User exploit of accelerating when switching to CPU controlled players that should already be hustling/running at top speed. Also there was a thread in the Madden forum recently about BCV for RBs and how it didn't matter because a User controlled runner could just hit any hole. This sounds like a way to make choosing a hole important because gamers can't just take fast runners and speed burst all over the backfield, I'm feeling that.

Now we need this upgraded physics and movement to effect receivers in the passing game, along with a true pass rush to force the QB to get the ball out, so passing won't be on offensive crutch. Here's to hopefully seeing some quality video later today.

EDIT- Wanted to add that the "Force Impact System" reminds me of the impact system in FIFA and it would be nice if that meant real time injuries in M25 too. Yes, I want ALL we can get in one year because it's "all" been too long coming, lol.
