A recent roster update has significantly improved gameplay!

After much testing, the gameplay has been tweaked in many areas that needed adjustments as far as I can tell:

    -Transition defense is much better

    - players actually have hand-eye coordination, i.e more blocks

-defenders close out and chase off screens better

-help defense is much more aware of impending penetration

-sprinting animations, among others trigger quicker

-the spin when being defended closely does not create the huge gap it used to.

This is bitter sweet because the gameplay is fantastic, but the only way to take advantage of it is through using 2k's terrible roster....smh.

Yeah it's like they finally put in all the defense that was clearly missing from the game. Hopefully this is where they start to improve on for 14. The last roster updates improve the game by a lot. You can actually play some defense that resembles NBA basketball.

Maybe i'm really the only one that disagrees here, but 2K doesn't care enough, nor put enough effort into their roster update to make significant gameplay changes. The gameplay has always been fantastic this year, of course it has it's problems.. But there is no such thing as 'secret patches' with the things 2K takes credit for, you know they would brag and announce such an update. I don't know what the difference is when you guys are playing it now, but I can assure you it's gonna be based on how you're playing. Not the roster update.

Sorry man but you are wrong. Patches cost money and if you can tweak gameplay without a patch that is a smart design. 2k calls them "tuners" as in fine tuning the gameplay on their end you download the rosters if you are connected to the net. Just because 2k doesn't come in and take credit for the change in gameplay does not mean anything. You don't notice how blocking has changed dramatically. Everything on defense has been amped and if you can't see the difference we must not be playing the same game or you are not paying attention.

No. I honestly have seen no difference in any aspect that I cannot attribute to either sliders or my own gameplay. I understand why you would think that but I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. Lol.

If it's a content update then you shouldn't have to use the 2k roster to see results. Right?

They have definitely did something with the blocking. Since the game as first came out more "canned animation"/great positioning blocks have been occuring much more frequently. At least once a game (from what I've extensively played online). It used to be you would see once every 50 games or so. They were that rare.

I also don't know if my timing is better or they did something but it's much easier to block a shot after a contested layup by the opponent now. It could be the former (and it probably is) but I can see the argument for the latter.

It can't be argued that contact in the paint is much more frequent than it used to be at launch. It's still bad and you only get contact maybe 30-40% of the time but it's better than the 5-10% it was at launch. You can still pass it down to the paint and do a standing dunk successfully 80-90% of the time with any big man in the game though.

Well playing my association with the Jazz with bedwardsroy roster, and so far I noted the diference on D
Halftime and i have already 6 blocks

I Also noted that it seems that both me and the CPU have been consistent with the post fadeway, Both Jefferson and Kobe are 2/2 from Post Fads

I use a lot of different teams I don't change the sliders for blocking mine is set at 50. What is noticed to me is that everything in the paint is contested more and there are more block attempts and blocking has gone up. It is like the awareness has went up again without me changing sliders for me or the CPU. Like the OP said hand eye coordination has improved so instead of jumping to just jump they actually jump to contest. Teams are playing the passing lane better and are trying to down the paint better, they are rotating more. I can't say if it is roster only but 2K tweaked something. The blocking should be the first thing that most notice because it was the worse.

You don't have to use 2ks roster, the content that is added is added game wide so it changes all gameplay.
