What do u hate the most when playing HC

For me personally, its the CPU insta-pass.

You know what I mean, That play where the CPU QB hasen't even finished his dropback and yet he throws the ball (mostly while jumping backward) to a receiver who is covered but still catches the pass and half the time takes it to the house making ur prized CB look like the second coming of Jamarcus Russell defensive back style.

And it always happens on a play that you should have either gotten a sack or tackle for loss. OR its 3rd and long and u really need a stop then boom Tavaris Jackson lights it up in half a second to who even knows who and there's Revis like WTF just happened!!!!!

cpu play inside the 2-minute mark. All of a sudden, a team I've held to 3rd and out ALL DAY is completing 12-yard passes every time. the score is 0-21 in my favor at 2:01 in the 2nd quarter, and suddenly it's 7-21 at 1:14 in the 2nd quarter.

happens damn near every game. both halves.

Hmm which do I pick? There's a lot even though I love the game so much. For me, and maybe it's just me, but when the computer gets the ball on its first possession of the 3rd quarter, I swear there's nothing I can do to stop it from getting a touchdown. Even my kids see it coming now when I'm playing and get that look on my face and call it the "3rd quarter cheat".

then there's the shouldblock tackles that cause facemasks, or running up behind a 'back to tackle him and going flying off when his ankle touches me... Or seeing a guy with a 54 catch get 9 passes for 141 yards and 2 tds when your own receiver, with a 85 catch drops 2 passes in a row, uncontested. LOL!!!

Of course, you take the good with the bad - and pray one day someone will see us few poor souls still playing the game years later and think, "Hey, it's time to make HC14!"

The pick sixes drive me nuts. I don't mind throwing the interception but why are so many taken back for touchdowns!

TOTALLY agree about the CPU 2 min drill!!!!

As far as the start of the 3rd quarter tho I haven't ever had that prob, most of the time the coin toss goes in the cpu's favor and they always want the ball at the start which is fine for me I would rather have it to start the 2nd half to begin with but glad to know that I should stay away from getting it to start the game.

The inability of the CPU to play any defense at all.

That a Tristan Riley at a 97 Accuracy and a Peyton manning at a 98 Accuracy can throw 5-6 TD's a game and 369 yards but also 3-4 Ints. including a couple of pick sixes on schedule every game.

And how my well prepared kicker can hit 37 and 45 yard field goals but misses extra points.

Oh and Less we forget the freezes, especially when you have played a great game and scored 47 points including a couple pick six's, a punt and kickoff return, and about 500 yards worth of Offense, and it Freezes with 1:48 left in the game.

Otherwise I just love It to death.

I love how the game freezes at the most inopportune times. Like the middle of the draft or right after the draft. Pisses me off having to restart it again.

That made me stop playing for awhile, but now I jump to supersim when under 2 minutes in each half and call plays that way and have good success at stopping the opponent.
In fact, just picked off P. Manning last night with under 2 to go in the game and the colts down 5. I do have some house rules however. If I'm in a dime formation, I can only call plays from a dime formation until there is clock stoppage. It's not perfect but it gives me a fighting chance and much less frustration.

haha i just started browsing this forum because i hadn't played this in so many years, but this is the only reason i quit this game. it's unreal how much better this was to me than any version of madden, and they just gave up on this thing so quickly. EA sucks so bad.

also curious if any other ps3 users experience terrible lockups? i can't play the game out of frustration because it locks up on me at the same times as this guy describes.

Re: What do u hate the most when playing HC

I never have freezes in game, but in the draft if you dont save as soon as the music cuts out, you're playing risky. Dont ever try to save after ending the draft if the music cut out near the end of round 7. It will freeze during the save and delete the save. Also, If you're adding plays during wed in the play creator, never try to finish both offense and defense at the same time/ if you're just adding the simple plays in one shot, it will freeze sooner or later. Save after every 3-5 advanced plays created.

But yeah, thats a major pain in the ***. I hate the 6000 yard passing seasons 50+ tds/2000 receiving 160+ receptions. Ive pretty much tamed them with my sliders but a staff with HC/OC/position at 4 or 5 performance, 2 great qb coaches and one of the elite 10 qbs in the league and it will happen soon enough. If you havent tried them, I highly suggest it. Most realistic season stats Ive ever had. Amplifies the run game, cuts the passing game down, ups sacks around the league, cuts int to 10 max per person most seasons and only 1-2 people at max. Lots of stuff.

The game plays like a dream now. Also, If you're having trouble with the instapass, work on blitzing inside runs & standard passes, as well as covering quick standard and shotgun. It will help focus your dline on getting inside instead of always going around the edge. Also, some great blitzes are lolb blitz and fire man in 4-3. Nickle wham Lurk.

If its in the last 2 mins of the 2nd or 4th, you need to pick your own plays. The dc will still pick 4-3 3-4 or 4-6 plays on 1st/2nd down when they're throwing out 3-4 wr in shot gun. This is because the dc is picking plays based on the average usage of plays on that down and distance, not against the hurry up or low time remaining. If they usually run up the middle in an iform, he will put out something that stops that instead of a dime or nickle...

I occasionally encounter a freeze while the game loadingscreen is displayed after selecting the PLAY GAME option. It just seems to keep loading, but never completes the cycle and then gets stuck. I hate that! Now I always save my career just before I make my inactive selections so if the freeze happens, I can reload.

And when the music stops or the sound begins to crackle, it’s time to save or just quit the game and reload before a freeze occurs. It seems like the sound related freezes happen when I move in or out of a clipboard window selection too quickly while one of the talking heads babbles away in the lower left corner.

I also am not a fan of the 60 second time limit for negotiating contracts. I guess I’d rather see some sort of graphic indicator or more relevant contextual response during contract negotiations without a time limit.

And the high-powered cpu 2-minite drill at the end of a half is odd sometimes during games which my team has pretty much dominated.

I keep coming back to the game though. For example, I just led the Cowboys to a 21 to 20 victory over the Redskins in season two of a career. It was a classic battle the whole game. We couldn’t convert a 3rddown at the middle of the field with a couple minutes remaining, so we punted. The Redskins ran a good 2-minute drill (as previously posted by others in this thread). Then my Nickel Defense with DeMarcus Ware providing some blitzing pressure made a few stops. But on 3rdand 12, I decided to blitz all 4 linemen and both LBs. The Redskins ran a draw, blew past my blitz righ up the middle of the field, and picked up about 15 yards! Now on my 25 yard line, they were in Field Goal range with about 20 seconds to go and their 1 remaining timeout.

I’d never seen a team run a draw in that situation in this game before. As effective as it was, what happened next shocked me even more and reminded me of how many of the real Cowboys Redskins close games I’ve seen since I was a kid typically end.

Rather than call a time out and kick the field goal the Redskins hurried to the line and called another running play…and fumbled the ball at about the 20 yard line. My offense trotted onto the field. Romo ran QB Kneel once to burn their remaining time out, then once more time to run out the clock and secure the win.

I’m a Cowboys fan, so in real games it always seems like the Cowboys Secondary or Romo flubs up at the end of the close Redskins game. It was sweet to see the other team do so in a critical moment. As long as this game keeps providing dramatic experiences like that I’ll keep coming back, no matter how many freezes and reloads I have to suffer through.

The people that have all the freezes are you playing on PS3? I play on 360 and never have freezes. I can remember one or two freezes and I've had the game since it came out.

One of the things I dislike the most is that, in a game about NFL coaching, one has little opportunity to examine coaches around the league; we're given a feast of information about the players year-round, but the only time we get to look at OTHER coaches' credentials is after the season is over/before the off-season begins -- and, if doing well in the playoffs, that amount of time is significantly reduced. Too, if you have coaches that leave/retire after a successful season, your team may wind up quite screwed the following year (unless you're frequently saving/reloading).

Ideally, in a game that so readily allows we players to put such planning and fore-thought into our teams' present and future players, it seems odd that we can't AS readily put the same fore-thought into our coaching staffs.
