    24 Inning Game

Just had a 24 inning game as the Pirates @ the Dodgers.
(Hall of Fame & Analog for pitching and hitting for anyone wondering)

it was tied 2-2 forever, then in around the 15th or 16th inning i scored one and they answered in the bottom half making it 3-3. top of the 24th i crack it open and put up 3. In the bottom Adrien Gonzalez dings a 2 run shot.. 2 hits later, the score is 6-5, runners on the corners, one out, Matt Kemp at the plate and...he grounds into a double play.

Incredibly fun game. Mark Ellis went 0-11 (ouch). The 4th to 6th place record for longest game in real life are all 24 innings so this game would be in there somewhere. Night game at Dodger Stadium starting at 10pmE, probably last around 6-8 hours ending at 4am-6am (if they let it go that long). lol

What's the longest game / most innings you guys have ever played? Any crazy moments like walk offs, diving catches, etc.?

can't say that I've played one quite that long but it sounds like a lot of fun. I probably would have gotten super frustrated though... How did you manage your pitchers? Bring in another starter at some point? What about pitch hitters and runners?

I can't remember how it ended (though my team did win the game), but in MLB 12 I was involved in a game that went 19 innings. But 24 innings is nuts. That's 2 3/4 games in 1.

In the 14th and later i started pinch running for slower players or pinch hitting for struggling players then put them in defensively when the inning changes. I burnt through my set up guys really quickly, but had two long relievers so they each went like 4 innings then when i ran out I wanted to use a position player to pitch, but i didn't have one on the bench and i didn't know how to switch over a current one so I used a starter an inning at a time in the last 3 innings staying mostly around the strike zone because it was in a franchise so I didn't want to wear them out.

EDIT: I was playing completely legit until a point around the 19th or 20th inning where i just started throwing up meatballs because i wanted it to end, but that only lasted for like 2 bad batters who lined out then i realized it was the longest game i would probably ever play and it was pretty cool so I started trying again lol

My longest this year was 18 innings.

It was on one of those nights where I was like, "Sweet. Don't have to work tomorrow. I'm definitely going to get 2 or 3 games in tonight!!!!"

18 innings later I was so exhausted that I called it one and done.

lol thats exactly how I felt afterwards. It felt like I had just got out of a 3 hour movie or something like that. I was thinking "i could have finished 3 games in my franchise in that time" ... then afterwards just didn't feel like playing at all

I've had a 20 inning game, won 8-7, blew 2 saves in the 11th and 15th. Then walked it off with Allen Craig, most rewarding win ever. Better than any perfecto or no no that I've thrown.

It is impossible to have blown two saves and then have a winning walk off hit.

Once you go to extras only the away team can get save opportunities and only the home team can win with a walk off hit.

Game winning hit. My bad my bad. I had to double check it. I looked at it when I was typing it, and just saw how my last run scored.

                      Re: 24 Inning Game

18 innings. In MLB 12, 18 innings was the most I've ever played. Luckily it wasn't a school night. But I also wanted to play 2 games. Of course that didn't happen as I was exhausted after this. Mets vs. Giants, AT&T Park, Game 3. Giants take a 3-2 lead, but I tie it in the 8th on a clutch double by Adam Loewen. I think it was the 11th when I took a 4-3 lead, then Pablo Sandoval ties it in the bottom. I was like "This is gonna take a while." So, there continued my stress level going up by having my heart beating on every pitch I throw. Getting out of jams, baserunning blunders, & losing a scoring opportunities. Ah, extra-inning games; you gotta love 'em. Seems as though the bats go silent in extras. I finally scored with a hit by none-other-than Adam Loewen (He's filling in for injured Duda). Then I said "Finally! The Rock has... I mean, yes, great win!" Yes, I was frustrated when I couldn't get anything done before, but that's the beauty of this game. I used my whole bullpen. Winning 18-inning games like this, especially as the road team, adds to the challenging aspect of this game.

Had a 21 inning game. Not the experience I had imagined.

It was a lot of fun for the first few extra innings, but then became a chore. After 20, it got to the point where my bullpen and brain were so depleted that I was throwing meatballs to end it (I did lose).

I had planned to play two (which I guess I did...and then some) but was too burned out to keep playing. I didn't play the next night, either.

This year, i think ive only went into the 12th.

Overall, i think it was in MLB11 i made it to 33 innings...its was insane. both the pc and i had no-nos into the 13th, then in the top hell broke loose and they scored 3, i got lucky in the bottom and ripped out back to back doubles with 2 outs before homering to tie...it stayed 3-3 until the bottom of the 33 when Tommy Hanson( i was the braves and had brought him in in the 30th to finish it out) hit a homerun. I used my entire bench and bullpen as well as 2 starters in relief....on the bright side, the game acknowledged when i hit the 28th that it was the longest game in history...though after that they never said the inning number again. thankfully ive only ever hit 20 innings once since..

Was the game like the Oakland one? Did the fans leave or was it just pretty much the same throughout the game?

I've had a 12 inning and a 14 inning so far this year in only 11 games. Longest I've had is like 20.

I would answer that, but I was so focused into the game, I didn't even look at the crowd. Lol.
