Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
i almost forgot how good this game was. After 13 , im sorry to say i ever came off of 12. i wonder why they didnt just feed off of 12. seems like they made a whole new game in 13. which is very sour. just my 2cents.Tags: None -
Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
They just cant win.....They just cant win. When 12 was out all people cried about was physics and new passing. And thats what you got.
Infinity Engine was exactly what I thought it was going to be for M13. Okay, but with a lot of quarks. It didnt deserve the badmouthing that it received. Its all people had been crying for for about 4 years and they wanted to get it to peoples hands to show them they were at least working on it.
If anybody stops and thinks about it the infinity engine wasnt built for this gen.... Why would they launch the IE on M13 if M25 is on the next gen? Even if M25 isnt on the next gen why would they change the physics engine for a game that at max is 2yrs away from the next gen.
My thoughts are that they put it in M13 to just show good faith
The Total Control Passing in 13 was a fail imo. But it was a necessary fail. With something like that you dont really know how it will play out until people get their hands on it. Now that they 100% know the faults it SHOULD be tuned to be way better/more realistic.
EA cant win for actually trying can they? -
Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
They did feed off 12. They added the infinity engine, new passing trajectories. The only thing that was really just completely changed was connected careers taking over the career modes. Madden 13 is the better game. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
Madden 12 is better when it comes to replays and camera angles, once you get the hang of Madden 13, from a gameplay standpoint, 13 is better. I have played a ton of both and I went back to 12 the other day just to re-experience the cameras and replays and they are so much better than 13. When it comes to gameplay though, I can't even play 12 anymore. The IE was a necessary move despite all its flaws, IMO it still gives us the best playing Madden on current gen. I agree with WF, the move was made strictly to lay a foundation for next gen and I think they released it "early" so they could get the kinks out, having it been gameplay tested by consumers, before the next gen transition.Comment

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
I agree. As much as I liked 12 for the cameras and replays, I do think overall 13 is better. They did take steps backward as much as they improved the passing though. Not being able to throw the ball high or low was a step back as well as the qb animations being worse. That's been the thing with Madden this gen. For every couple improvements they make, there are several things they remove or they regress.Madden 12 is better when it comes to replays and camera angles, once you get the hang of Madden 13, from a gameplay standpoint, 13 is better. Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
It was a necessary fail indeed - it clearly pointed out, devastatingly glaringly pointed out, that EA needs to move to a "route based" passing system where the receivers route "is what it is" and the QB has to use the "precision passing" to "place" the ball high/low/inside/outside within the appropriate "window" of the route. They just cant win.....They just cant win. When 12 was out all people cried about was physics and new passing. And thats what you got.

The way the QB throws the pass should not ever affect the route, especially before the receiver even gets his head around to "locate" the ball...Comment

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
Madden 13 added some great features which can still be built upon to be made even better, however I played Madden 12 for so much longer and enjoyed it more. On Madden 13 I did not actually manage to stick to a Franchise for a long period of time because I got bored.Comment

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
These were your thoughts about '12...back then. Just say'n passing time makes games better than they actually were in a lot of cases.
----------------------
the TRADE logic does suck... It seems rather hard to trade players, not that , thats a bad thing. But when im offering a 80 OVR HB (F. Jackson) for a 70 OVR T (L.Brown) and ask for a 3rd rounder or 4th rounder also , they reject. When the Cards could use a HB since the starter Wells is at 75 ??? lol..
Ive lost interest in Madden for the past week.. Its just not a fun game anymore. I was all over it at launch... but i find it easy to draft since i know the potential of almost every draft pick.. lol.. kinda makes it
un-challenging.
i decided to TRADE madden 12 in and wait till 13 comes out... playing Madden 07 now... love it. Will never sell it..
I only got thru like 2 years , progrssion killed franchise mode in 12.Last edited by Skyboxer; 05-03-2013, 06:39 PM.Joshua:

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
All Maddens have their quirks. M13 however, once you find a good sliders set( I recommend Jarrod21s All Madden set), is a really good game. Sliders have such a huge impact on this game. I play in a couple of leagues with similar settings and enjoy them very much. I joined a league at TNE a while back and they play on normal game speed with no slider adjustments...and it was a terrible experience. I wouldn't pay $10 for how it played that way. I also recently tried another league, OBA Nation, and while they have amazing content they play on All Pro and...again..I wouldn't pay $10 for how the game played on those settings. But with the right settings and sliders I absolutely enjoy 13 now.
Sometimes, I don't think people really get a feel for well the game can play with things adjusted to your liking.GT EarAssassin

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
The one area that I agree M12 is considerably better than M13 is no XP progression. I like having influence over where players improve, but I don't think having access to the "physical" attributes should be unlimited - each attribute on the physical side (SPD, AGI, ACC, JMP, STR, THP) should have a "range" based on where the player starts in that rating.
SPD, JMP, and THP should be limited to 3 points of improvement.
ACC and AGI should be limited to 5 points of improvement
STR should be limited to 10 points of improvement at max, but should also
be limited by the player's "frame" - when you read scouting reports
you will often see "has the frame to bulk up" or what ever
I would love to see each attribute have a on/off "toggle" so we could have the option to "lock in physical ratings and DEV" so as to give a more "sim" feel, IMO, to the progression.Comment

Threads like these make me laugh....
When a new Madden is released, it's usually met with negative reviews. But that same game, years later, is met with praise.

Its not that they cant win, but it is easy to see how much better 12 is than 13. The infinity engine was horrible, so when you get 13 and experience that type of gameplay. You than become more appreciative of 12. That all it is.They just cant win.....They just cant win. When 12 was out all people cried about was physics and new passing. And thats what you got.

It has nothing to do with EA not winning. It has everything to do with EA always changing things and not building off what they did previously.Simply *Magic* Just click the link and Watch :)

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
I actually just bought Madden 12 last week. Got at a used game store for 8 bucks.
I would need to play 13 again to decide if its better. I did actually like the Infinity engine. I mean it wasn't great, but it beat those stupid looking uninspired 1 or 2 man tackles. I also liked the new passing in 13.
But I do have to say Madden 12 was a pretty decent game. I really liked Madden 10 as well.
I'm cautiously optimistic about 25. But really excited to see what next-gen will be like.Comment

Re: Madden 12 is a breathe of fresh air
madden 12 was for me the worse money i spent i played if for 2 weeks non stop and sold it worse game madden came out glad i only pay 40 bucks for it i be extra salty if i pay 60 like most u did
each person has there say but i rather play madden 11 i play that game non stop team play was the best had the best camera view but so many cried over the camera view on defensive ea change it back
why take a camera view out make a option i love the camera view cause i didnt see everything and it was like playing real football when u walk on the field u look at the offensive and not the other way around
since i got off topic i had a lot problems with madden 12 to me it was unplayable but i gave it 2 weeks or so of non stop and then finally had enough and sold it back to best buy or did i sell it on ebay either way i sodl itComment
