    Realistic Country Club

I have been looking for Country Clubs to play in. I joined the "0 bogeys" Country Club....last night I played in my first tourney in which I shot an Even round. I admit I am just learning the game and that score is not too grand.

However, the other person playing the round at the time finished with a -19 round. Over 4 days this would be like -40 under or something. Is this pretty much what all line playing is like?

I want to be in a CC where round scores are between -2 to -10 or so under AT BEST....do these exist?

So what you're saying is you dont want to be in a CC where someone can shoot a really low score no matter how hard the CC makes it?

I'm saying anyone shooting -19 on one round of golf is idiotic and I want no part of it.

Unfortunately, what your asking for is a double edged sword.....

            either...

            1. The guys in the group are simply not good at the game at the lower levels...This is not a knock on them, but the issue is it will likely be a very short lived CC at best as its not a passion for them...

            2. The settings will be so rediculously hard, they will be -7 or so, but your score will be +35..... again, creating the same frustration with you that you had on the lower levels......

            That is your challenge.....

That would be fine. If the best people are shooting -7... I would be fine with shooting +35 if that is what I shoot. I just NEVER want the top guys shooting -19 in one day.

What would be perfect though is a club that had players wit the skiill level to shoot no better -10 or so on Pro or tour pro level.

The issue is that the skill gap between shooting -5 on pro or tour pro and -19 is extremely small believe it or not.... Once someone gets a little bit better, it brings -19 right in to contention.... So even a group of guys put together that will shoot -7, will soon have several of them able to shoot -18 with in about a week....

This is not intended as an arguement... I just want you to have realistic expectations of CC's that are out there.

I guess I just wish the game would change somewhat then....

Like the margin of error was so small that even if you could read the greens perfect and hit it perfect that it would just miss a lot of times like real life.

Totally understand where your at..... At times in the past, I felt similar things. I did come to understand though that many in the game like shooting low. It is why they play it. They feel the exact opposite of you and would not play the game if it was set up harder. Who is right in that? No one really.... Fortunately, we have many options for settings and can play as we want. That gives the game more consumers and they continue to make my crack cocaine of choice..... If they stopped, I would go into sweats and shakes

If you read the greens perfectly and strike the ball perfectly a putt should be perfect. Odds are in real life you're doing neither (even if you think you are), lol. Of course, greens can have imperfections that might influence a putt, but what I'm getting at is that on a good green missing a 5-footer is about not executing, not some sort of anti-golfer voodoo.

I find on the hardest swing difficulty this game has a very small margin of error. Even swings that would be very good on the second hardest difficulty can produce shots that miss fairways and greens.
