With NCAA 14 coming out in a little over a month I was wondering if anyone heard any news about custom conferences? Number of teams and conferences or if anything was added such as being able to delete independents?

After hearing rumors of FCS teams getting together and forming its own conference to move up to FBS, I ran with that. Took 12 of the top FCS teams to make a new CUSA.

As far as I know, there has been no additional news regarding custom conferences, so it should be the same. You should be able to move teams from one conference to another conference. However, I'm assuming that because there are still independents, that independents will still be in the game, and will still be required.
Personally, I think it would be great if we could delete conferences; imagine no conferences and all the FBS teams are independents. Imagine some of the match ups that a no-conference schedule could produce. Alabama-USC? Ohio State-Oklahoma? Florida State-West Virginia?
Or turn that on its head; what about if there was one big conference with all the major FBS teams? Or four conferences of 24 teams where the top 4 of the first division go into a playoff for the national championship and the bottom 3 are replaced by the top 3 of the next division down.Comment

Maybe limit the total number of schools for the division to around 130, that way you would be able to add to a conf w/out deleting any schools. Like the Sun Belt with the additions of App and GSU.Comment

Yeah that's what I figured, I don't have as much a problem with leaving the current number of conferences but if there was a way to make it so there are no independents. Even just leaving 1 or 2 teams independent is annoying but I guess it is what it is. Can't wait to set-up my promotion/relegation dynastyXbox One/360: BionicBeard52

What i would like to see is having 5 or 10 blank spots that you can use to import teambuilder teams. So you can bring in teams to replace schools without taking any teams away.Comment

The only way they will ever allow this is if the schedules are totally randomized, with some teams maybe getting only 11 games.
Are you ok with trading realistic schedules with locked rival games, etc, and being ok with some teams playing only 11 games in exchange for this?Comment

Well it wouldn't necessarily be the teams coming in getting 11 games. We already get teams with 11 games. Could you imagine the chaos if you could just add and subtract teams at will?Comment

Because Generic FCS Team isn't really a placefiller like it should be. It's an actual team just like all the others. So when all the FCS teams are scheduled, nobody else plays an FCS team that week.Comment

Assuming there are no changes to the system I will be running a setup which I ended on last year:
- 4 region relegation system (NE, SE, C, W)
- Regional setup leads to more fun recruiting battles for local recruits within each conference
- Each region contained 3 conferences
- Top tier with 12 teams
- Mid tier with 10 teams
- Bottom tier with 8/9 teams
- To be promoted a team must win 2 conf championships within the past 3 years.
- I initially promoted after 1 conf championship - but it was too volatile and a small group of schools were constantly going up/down.
- Relegated team is the worst record the past 3 season (tie breaker most recent)Timeetyo

I am toying with the idea of 5 16 team super conferences so to speak. I'd prefer 4 16 team ones but the game won't allow more than 2 teams from each to go to the BCS so I'd end up with 2 "cupcake conference" teams in there. So I have an excel doc with the 5 conferences with 16 right now. I will run a couple "test" sim dynasties to make sure it looks alright and everything.
I also wish and pray they could get the number of conference games for each team right for once...I dread some playing 10 conference games instead of 9 or some teams only playing 11 total games even. It's pretty strange they cannot fix that and that happens even if you do NOT mess with custom conferences at all! Sorry, rant over. Still looking forward to doing custom conferences again.
